Must be that farking global cooling this year.
Amazing, highest amount of ice creation in 100 years. WHY wont it JUST warm up!!!

I know, lets dump some more CO2 into the atmosphere, after all, it only makes up %0.03 of the fresh air we breath, obviously we need FAR more into the atmosphere. That way, those teenie tiny little atoms of CO2 can retain heat. Although, molecules in the atmosphere do more to block the incoming solar radiation then retain it.

What the heck, what the fark does science know anyway!!!

So if the tornado picks up a bunch of pigs, and crosses through a wildfire caused by an earlier tornado, do we have insta-bacon?

Current reports on NOAA say there was an EF-5+ recorded on the ground for roughly thirty seconds before downgrading into an EF-3+ making it the strongest tornado on Earth since the revision of the Fujita scale.

(EF-5+ would be a minimum of 381 MPH wind speed - 80% of the way to Mach 1... Amazing to see, terrible to get hit by. Hope no one got nailed by it. Seriously.)

Actually, the (Enhanced) Fujita scale is based upon the damage a tornado does, not the wind speeds it produces. The wind speeds are of course handy references for rough estimates, but they're not how the Fujita scale classifies a tornado.

I remember after the May 3rd tornadoes in Oklahoma, when some of the fastest wind speeds on Earth were recorded, some folks were talking about the possibility of making a category F6 on the Fujita scale for those wind speeds. But nope, you can't get much of a higher category when F5 basically means "hey, where did everything go?"

bugdog [TotalFark] 2008-05-24 06:44:14 PM
Oh, hey! I can take my laptop to the bathroom with me!

Why didn't I think of that an hour ago?

There is an EF6 category, but they have been very hesitant to assign any storm to that category.

The Moore storm was "close" as well as the Xenia storm of '74 (which I bare scars from)/
