Well, since this is green, it seems like there should be plenty of Farkers in his state willing to send in signatures to fight this crap.
Of course, that assumes the guy actually deserves it (I assume this isn't likely to be the whole story); as I have no idea whether Sciortino or Trane is a better candidate.

Representative is singular. Stupid subby.

rburp -- actually, "their" is becoming more popular as an alternative to "his or her". Interesting.

It's also neuter.

Don't give me that crap about how it's not "technically" correct. The codified rules of a language should reflect popular usage, not seek to change it.

Yes, but we all know that the best representatives are males. Women, especially ones like hillary, struggle to keep up with their superior counterpart.

That's ridiculous. I got all of my signatures in 5 days. ANd to not make copies right away? C'mon man, you gotta be kidding me.

I came in here to say "now we know what to do if POAC gets uppity in a debate thread" but he's here so I'm getting a.. uhh.. ackward.

Grammar threadjack:

"They" and "their" have been commonly used as singular gender-neutral pronouns since the 13th century. In the 18th century some people who thought English should be more like Latin tried to forbid the singular "their." It didn't work.

Here are some examples from a website about singular "their":

* "And whoso fyndeth hym out of swich blame, / They wol come up... (Chaucer, "The Pardoner's Prologue", ca. 1395).
* "And every one to rest themselves betake" (Shakespeare, "The Rape of Lucrece", 1594).
* "...if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses..." (Matthew 18:35, Authorized Version (King James Version), 1611).
* "...every fool can do as they're bid." (J. Swift, "Polite Conversation", 1738.
* "A person can't help their birth" (Thackery, Vanity Fair, 1848).
