Ferraro- terrible choice

Edwards - good choice, would have been even better at the top of the ticket.

So he's batting .500. Not too shabby.

Obama is an intelligent enough guy to know who would be an asset as veep. Plus the crop to pick from this year is especially good.

In his defense, running mates were not the main problem with those campaigns.

Tapping the ex-CEO of Fannie Mae to look for someone with a strong business background perhaps?

Neither of them lost because of their running mate.

I bet I can name three of the choices that are in the top five on the list:

Governor of New Mexico
Governor of Kansas
Governor of Arizona

No, he's batting .000. They both lost. That's like saying a guy who had a twelve pitch at-bat and then grounded out should be credited with a hit.

The analogy doesn't hold. Hits that aren't runs still count, and you don't have to win the game to have an exceptional batting avg for the game.

Remember its all about "Change" and "Hope". Obama hopes to change Washington politics through reverse psychology by not actually having any hope or change.

Hillary no longer believes she has a chance to win the nomination. I believe she wants to be the VP. I thought she stayed in for W. Virginia and Kentucky to re-coup her financial losses. Her remaining in the race and the posturing she is taking re:Florida and Michigan = a clear cut sign that she wants the VP spot.

The question is, is she just running her mouth and going to fall in line, or is she actually willing to go scorched earth and claim that she won the nomination and refuse to stand down?

I stand by the position I had since she first changed her position on Florida and Michigan. The DNC should of publicly destroyed her, made an example of her and in-turn, that would of greatly altered the remaining elections. Obama and DNC remained quiet, hoping it wouldn't come down to this... But if the voting electorate was made fully aware of exactly how Florida and Michigan went down, there is no way she would of been able to pick up the votes she has....

Now they have put her in a position to re-write history in regards to Florida and Michigan. She probably has enough power remaining to completely sack Obama's chance at Presidency.

He also drafted Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith, so that's pretty good.

It's not Johnson's fault that Kerry decided to lay on the ground and take the beating when the 527's came after him with baseball bats. So far, Obama has shown that he has a backbone and is willing to swing back at attacks against him. If he doesn't lose that backbone I think he has a pretty good chance.

coma:

My sarcasmometer is picking up a reading here, but in case you're serious - the big problem with Webb is that he's a senator. This is the same reason I oppose Claire McCaskill, who is otherwise an appealing option. Obama needs to pick a governor, to get executive experience on the ticket.

All obvious choices, and all good ones. I like Napolitano in particular, because I'd love to see McCain have to struggle to win his home state.

As a Republican I agree, and think if Obama chooses him, he will be making a good choice too.

I would have voted for Edwards four years ago. Did not vote for Kerry.

Barry has almost zero chance at winning the white house. The Democrat Party is in for a rude awakening when McCain is sworn in next year.

Interesting list. I think Powell is out. No matter how honorable a man he is, he's damaged good after this administration. Kucinich would be good (for his wife, if anything), but I think he'd be too polarizing...as would Gore & Pelosi.

I've heard some people muttering about Jack Reed here in Rhode Island, but I'll believe that when I see it.

I'd love to see Webb in there, though.

What keeps them out of orange jumpsuits is beyond me.

Well, it would be a tremendous waste to confine them in a shapeless, baggy orange jumpsuit.

And by "them", I assume you mean Katherine Harris' boobs, right?

And from where I'm sitting, the Mountain West looks ripe for at least a couple steals, and not just in Colorado and New Mexico. I'm seeing Nevada as a possible swipe, either Dakota, Montana, a few congressional districts in Nebraska (remember they and Maine aren't completely winner-take-all), Napolitano could put Arizona in play... if Obama limits his losses in Appalachia, makes a showing in the southeastern seaboard, this could get real interesting real fast.

Exactly. The Pachyderms have been winning mostly because they've done exceptionally well in the South and the West. Cherry pick a few of these "dependably" red states, and things get very interesting in a hurry. Hell, a few polls are even showing Texas as being in play, fer crissakes - the mind reels!

He'll have a hell of a time with the Neocons riding him as a (former) RINO.

I think the nuclear option theory is such garbage. It was written by writers from the Huffington Post that would never have voted for Hillary in the first place.

She's staying in the race, because she has to. She promised her supporters (and continues to do so) that she wanted every vote to count. Once Michigan and Florida are settled, and once all of the primaries are over, I really think she'll concede. She has her legacy to protect.

The reason why she hasn't done it now, because it'll seem like she's a quitter who goes back on her word.

Survey USA: Obama leading McCain in Virginia by seven percent

It's just one poll, but still... I'm wondering if he could pull off a victory here.
