Way to go band that has songs that sound identical to each other.

i kinda like that "rockstar" song cuz it doesn't sound like all their other songs and it's got clever lyrics. Is there a 12-step group I can join?

Christina Aguilera was also recognized for two tracks - There Ain't No Other Man and Hurt.

The big awards of the night went to Palow Tha Don, who took home Songwriter of the Year for his work with Black Eyed Peas star Fergie and Ludacris, and Oklahoma rockers Hinder - who earned Song of the Year for 2006's Lips of an Angel.

Awards that night in the movie category went to Ashton Kutcher, Keanu Reeves and Charlie Sheen.

GO BANALITY!!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the farking idiots that think pre-digested butt-rock can pass as award winning music...if it wasn't for all of you we'd be playing in a back alley bar hitting on the 15 year olds we snuck in that like our tight jeans and unoriginal lyrics.

Maybe he's taking it sarcastically. I think that's the way they really feel.

see the passionate who killed themselves with drink
Or drugs or speeding cars in order not to think
They must have felt like there just nothing was to do
Oh why hast thou murdered those who see the most in search of a true thrill or clue

Don't die, don't die, don't die, don't die...

There's something wrong here where the best ones want to go
Parker, Lautreamont, Monroe they held it just to throw
The world away who were its grace before they left
To choose to have a point of view oblivious that leaves the rest of us bereft

There I see the piercing eyes that look through all until they see their back
There where any thought will think about itself and that's the only fact
There a man has left just death, delerium, and drugs, or feel the lack

The air is cool today the time is drawing near
My walls are white and so's my brain afloat in self-made fear
A banal feeling of the sort "I ain't insane"
No fate worse than to never leave yourself and it's as well the most repulsive pain

The air is cool today that whistles through my ribs
My skull is full of sand that dribbles down upon my bib
I call out "Baby" but her face looks like a clock
Tick tock, alive, triumphant victims so surprised we can't recover from the shock

Me, I like a joke as much as anybody else but some are rough
Yeah when the joke's on you though you're the joker too you've had enough
Then though there is no one there, because there's nothing there, you call your bluff

In the words of Metallica: Kill 'em All

I noticed something about Lips of an Angel after the first few times I heard it. Pay attention to the lyrics; it's pretty obvious that he's singing to a guy.

Heroic Poser: Reason #43 to hate me.
I like a couple of their songs.

I like most of their songs. They're not musical geniuses or anything, but it's enjoyable music. The lyrics aren't very sophisticated and sometimes downright corny, but that's kind of what I like about them. Never understood why people are so picky about music.

madden101 2008-05-22 02:07:08 PM
I kind of enjoyed Silver Side Up ("Never Again" & "Too Bad", in particular), but hearing "How You Remind Me" a zillion times a week pretty much turned me off to them. "Figured You Out," from The Long Road was kind of catchy, too, but nowadays when I hear any Nickelback song on the radio (shame on you, KSHE95! I thought you had better taste!), I change the station right away.

mequickwantslow: Explain to me, please, how it has clever lyrics?

I particuarly like:

"Gonna sing the songs that offend the censors / Gonna pop my pills from Pez dispensers". Clever rhyme and a rip on the shallow industry in which he is a (supposed) icon.

doubleofive: Maybe he's taking it sarcastically. I think that's the way they really feel.

Yeah. That.

Of course you like "most of their songs"...they all sound exactly the same.

Am I the only one who thinks it is weird that a song from 2006 is winning song of the year during an awards ceremony in 2008? That song is old as shiat!

It's true that music can cause violence. For example, whenever I hear Nickelback, it makes me want to kill Nickelback.

It's pretty simple. There are 1000s of bands out there They are all easy to find and listen to. So why settle for just "OK" (or in this case horribly below average)

It's like seeing a Jessica Simpson movie, and being happy with it because you didn't have to think.

The State was a good solid album.

Do Americans know about The State? It seems like everybody wants to biatch about "How You Remind Me", and rightly so, but they had some good stuff before that.

Breathe, Leader of Men, Cowboy Hat. These are good songs.

I know there are 1000's of bands, and I enjoy just about anything I listen to. There are barely any songs I dislike, let alone specific bands or entire genres.

So granted, I'm not picky, but I just don't get how so many people can dislike so much of the music industry. I don't think there's any definitive criteria of what makes up "good" music other than personal opinion. Except for perhaps things like albums sold, and I believe Nickelback is doing pretty well in that area.

I can make a list of all the sophisticated, obscure bands I listen to if you want, will I be cool then?

I know people that like music based solely off of its obscurity. If you've never heard of it and an online search returns zero hits, chances are they like it.

Hey 3ID, how's Hinesville lately? I've been out since '98-99, so I'm sure Hinesville is ripe as ever.

Suckrock ringtones are the best.

Nickelback is shiat-rock for soccer moms who play it on their stock radios in Ford Expeditions so they can still feel young and hip.

FAIL

Heh, Photograph was voted our Senior song. I voted for something one of the local bands wrote, considering the Nickelback song is about a guy who didn't graduate High School

Side of a Bullet is the only one I listen to, besides a Mashup of "Take on Me" and "How You Remind Me".

guinnessfanatic [TotalFark] 2008-05-22 03:20:46 PM
BMI are the douchebags who call bars and demand royalty fees for artists they are in no way associated with and rarely give said money too. It's only right that they'd give awards to other douchebags for douchebaggery.

I'd rather make love to your mother too. I also love the dirt that's on her knees, and the way she still says please, when she's looking up at me.

/see, Nickelback's lyrics aren't all bad
