The thing about covering Heart songs is that you have to have the range and ability of Ann Wilson. If you don't then you may want to pick something else to sing.

I recently saw Heart at Universal's Mardi Gras concert series. They did a cover of Clapton. BIIIG mistake.

Plus they did a really bad, sappy, maudlin, slow rendition of Alone. It was awful.

I saw Fergie dueting with Heart, could have been the American Idol gives back show, and Fergie was spectacular singing her parts of that song. Her voice was in better shape than Ann's that night.

I fail to see how Fergie is such a "bad" singer. Her intonation and voice control are actually quite good. Are there better professional singers? Of course. She's not solely a vocalist, obviously, but a vocal entertainer. And she's been pretty damn successful at that.

Singing wasn't bad. Dance moves were entirely inappropriate for the time of day, and the audience. I get that it was probably choreographed, but noticing your audience and adapting is a good skill to have.

With all those kids around, she should have done a few more flips and a few less gyrations.

Yeah, this is the second time I've seen her do this song, and she wasn't bad either one. Pretty great actually. People need to learn how to separate bad music from bad voices. She has a great voice, I don't really see what purpose it serves to deny that. Her songs suck. It won't make you uncool to make that distinction, lol.

Same thing happened with Christina Aguilera........amazing voice over shiatty songs, but people were real unwilling to give her any credit at all. Strange.
