He's not bad. I actually prefer his solo album to the last couple of Foo Fighters efforts.

I like him.

I didn't know until the other day that he did the drums for Coheed's latest album.

Anybody here heard Pacific Ocean Blue? I was considering ponying up the money to buy a copy from eBay, until I heard there would be a reissue.

Pacific Ocean Blue is a fantastic album. Anyone even remotely a fan of the Beach Boys or rock n' roll in general would do themselves a service by picking up the reissue, I can't wait to hear all the extra tracks.

But, a drummer leaving drums to do vocals? How will Dave Grohl ever understand?

He'll figure it out over tea with Ringo Starr, Don Henley and Phil Collins.

Taylor already sang on a Foos album. Big whoop.

He seems like a cool guy. Here's a clip of him and Grohl doing a cover of Stairway on Kilborne.

I first liked this drummer when I heard him playing for Alanis Morrissette (sp?) on a live recording that really grabbed my attention.

yah, pacific ocean blue is actually an interesting album. aside from brian, dennis was the only other wilson brother who had any songwriting chops. dennis was also to a large degree an integral "heart" of the beach boys and when he died an early death a large amount of their creativity and cohesiveness went out the window.

I present to you Taylor Hawkins, backstage with Phil at last spring's VH1/Genesis show.

Quote from Taylor: One of my drum bibles was "Seconds Out".

Taylor Hawkins is a smart man, and the drummers' fraternity is not to be farked with.

He has also sung a cover of "Have a Cigar" (with extra special goodness of Brian May on guitar), "I Feel Free", and a live version of "Tie Your Mother Down" with the Foo. Good stuff

Yeah, it's one of those rock snob "holy grail" albums. That said, it's pretty good; I managed to rip a copy off a Russian MP3 site. Will be buying the reissue.

Dennis Wilson is not re-releasing anything.

There's an interesting pattern here. Cobain started out on drums, moved to guitar/vochals, and had a string of bad falling outs with drummers up until Grohl.

Grohl then formed Foo Fighters, moved to vocals/guitar, had a couple of bad falling out with the drummers, then settled on Hawkins. Now Hawkins starts a new band... moves to vocals...

/just sayin
