It's not that country pop or pop country is inherently a bad idea. It's that sucky country and sucky pop create an exponentiality of suck. The songwriting sounds up to par for a teenage girl at your average open mic.

Actually, not completely defending her, because "country" jumped the damn shark years and years ago, she does (unlike 95% of the rest of country artists) write her own stuff for the most part. That in itself impresses me.
