Actually by that point, they could probably send poorly-done ANSI art to one another.

There are 2 types of women on online dating sites: Ugly runts and attractive bi-polar psychos.

It's not so uncommon anymore. I met my girlfriend online (new window) before I went to Iraq and we started dating the second I got off the plane. We're getting married not far in the future.

redbloodwyn 2008-05-18 07:40:36 PM
Hubby and I met in 1996 on the internets. Been together all that time, just got married in Dec 07. We opted for a long test drive.

I remember how weird people thought it was then and how people treated us. Can't imagine what these poor people went through in '82.

12.fl.oz.: 19 years for the Mrs. and me in June.

How many farkers here grew up without the internet when they were kids? My son is 12 and he has always had access to the net and a computer. He once asked me what games I played on the net when I was his age. I told him there was no internet when I was a kid. He gave me that look that said, Dad is trying to pull one over on me. I still don't think he believes it is a modern invention and these kids are the first to grow up in the internet age.

Haha we had 28.8 modems, and WE LIKED IT!

Would it be nuts, or "Huh" though? The stigma really wouldn't exist...

Today the couple lives on the North Side, where they care for their three cats and Bichon Frise and enjoy occasional nights out at the Fondue Stube on Peterson Avenue.

Sounds to me like she's his beard.

tiamet4 2008-05-18 07:52:11 PM
Good for them! I've met a couple of nice guys online (I'm currently dating one). My mother was certain that I was going to be raped and/or murdered but really I find the whole experience easier and less skeezy than hanging out in some bar or begging my friends for a meeting with the friends THEY wouldn't date. You just have to be smart and safe about it.

The Great Gazoo 2008-05-18 07:52:25 PM
The wife and I met in person in November 1994 and married in February 1996. We met online sometime in the end of summer of 1994 back when "chat" was a relatively new phenomenon on the AOL's and Prodigy's of the world - and rather expensive: As it became more popular they charged about $4 (I think) per hour for chat sessions. The mrs and I ended up with like $300 per month Prodigy/AOL bills.

maceinator 2008-05-18 07:54:18 PM
My wife and I met online, well before the Internet. We were both users of the same timesharing system (Wylbur, running on an IBM370) back in 1975. We got married in 1977, and we'll be married 31 years in September.

/Take THAT 25 year anniversary newbs

Unbelievable, currently undreamed of, new means of advertising crap to you.

I'm voting for a return to 110 baud modems so we can watch the text type out, like on all the SCI-FI movies. The future is slow.
