If you ever pay attention to monsters or aliens in the movies you will notice most seem to have roots in the lizard family.

The best reason for that is if you ever read "Last Chance To See" by Douglas Adams and his passage on trying to read a Komodo Dragons thoughts and expressions. It's pretty disturbing :)
