good LORD that bass player is tall, or SRV was very short ... or both ...

I never really cared for his covers of Hendrix. I enjoy the real thing. Little Wing by Stevie pales to Jimi's.

Sgygus: /still sad about it

My uncle turned me on to SRV after discovering I liked ZZ Top. He gave me two of SRV's records to listen to and I was awed. The next weekend his helicopter went down.

Still sad, too ...

i love stevie, but i really wish hendrix had done an instrumental version like this. his super short 1 chorus solo leaves me drooling for more....

stevie can wail, but he is really limited to the blues sound. notice when the changes at the end of the progression on little wing leave the blues feel (chords are G,F,C,D...back to the top on E minor for the musicians out there) stevie plays the same lick everytime. its the lick hendrix plays in his solo on the record.

that said, thanks submitter, i always enjoy hearing stevie, and watching him make the lemon face.

the only good thing kkrw does, at the start of the year they play their whole album alphabeticly, if you time it right you can catch jimmy, then stevie playing little wing in order.

I've always said that a musician has to find their "twitch" or won't ever achieve their best.

/Cue pics of Angus Young "eating air."

ceremony_1968: Shoulda. Been. Clapton.

Honestly, Derek & the Dominos is the best version out there...
