There are many like me that in the last 10-15 years have become disinterested in the Nashville "pop-country" scene, to say the least. Most of the guys I know have moved on to a strong red dirt and Austin music taste. Nashville has destroyed what was a great American music genre, IMHO.
George's very early stuff wasn't polished enough to mimic the current Nashville sound. However, most a his music over the same 15 year period has been like all the other stuff you could hear on top 40 country radio.
That being said, this man will always be one of the best. His persona, his passion, his style all ooze country. He is a true king. I never miss a chance to get his new music or hit a concert when I have the chance.
/Gotta shorten this post. HDNet has a good day of Willie, Merle and others starting right now.
