This underhanded, unethical and possibly illegal behavior from Obama speaks volumes about his character.

It's illegal for superdelegates to announce their support at certain times?

Richardson's effusive endorsement drowned out the Wright story,

WTF? No it didn't. I just happened to luck into finding out about it one day, in the midst of all the media attention on Wright. Nothing drowned out the Wright story...

"By doing it that way, they are avoiding the charge that the bosses, the party leaders and insiders, are conspiring to deny Hillary a voice and voters a choice," said Schoen.

Who the f*ck is saying that anyone is denying Clinton a voice? She's been allowed a voice from the very beginning. Oftentimes, it had backfired on her when she "misspeaks" about things like sniper fire. The one person who should be trying to deny Hillary a voice is Hillary because her voice seems to do more damage to her campaign than anything else.

she just forgot that her missions into bosnia were classified, so she had to act like she was misspeaking

This is hardly underhanded. Strategic timing is a time-honored tactic. It's why you'll always see bad news announced at 5 pm on a Friday.

Has anyone heard that Obama's wife gave a speech in church where she rails against whitey? There's even a video, which hasn't surfaced for some reason.

psst...I've got one of McCain giving Bush and handjob spread the word. really. I just can't show you right now. I've got to wait until Oct for the big shocker. That's why I'm starting the rumor to increase the shock value. this way if everyone is expecting it it'll be a bigger surprise.

Trinity is not a small church at all (8-9000 members), the doors are open, and every church service of theirs has been on Chicago broadcast or national satellite distribution TV for most of the last 20 years. It seems unlikely that there is "just one copy", that some ex-member or visitor wouldn't turn something like this into an interview for a few hundred grand, or that some junior reporters haven't been scouring tape till their eyes bleed looking for anything. Not impossible, but smells like bullshiat.

The right wing learned a long time ago, that they don't need proof -- to their kind, it's already a fact worth exploiting whether it happened or not.

I heard about it, but it reeks of bullshiat to me. Once the Wright issue began to flare up, every pundit, news channel, political opponent's campaign, and radio host on the planet was probably digging through those church sermons to find something offensive or related to Obama. They came up with a teensy little handful of sermon segments and had to present the argument that these were representative of the entirety of the last 20 years.

Someone would have found and played this by now, I'd think, if it were the case. I've been wrong before, though.

Passive Aggressive Larry [TotalFark] 2008-05-17 04:20:35 PM
I think that if I was African-American and political, I'd probably have railed against 'whitey' many times during my youth. 'Whitey' does not encompass all white people you have to realize, and to think that it's simply an issue of one race complaining about the other keeping them down is completely missing the point.

Why are you assuming it's Obama doing the timing here? Their policy is right in the damned article:

Obama's campaign won't elaborate on its superdelegate strategy. "As people tell us they support us, we release it," said Bill Burton, a campaign spokesman.

They're not coordinating it themselves, though the superdelegates are probably announcing at opportune oments on purpose to ensure that the guy they're endorsing gets in.

You know, a man's life is at stake here. If he rally did have a stroke and you heckled him, it might put him in the wrong frame of mind and make his recovery less successful, or even kill him.

So yeah, you should do it.
