Happy Caturday all
Pogo has the week off, so I thought I'd do something different this week. This is Flying Kiddy, she keeps foul 'fluences away from the back door. She belonged to my dad, and when he died she came with me to the new house. Got here and she only had one wing, I thought it got lost in the move. Two weeks later I find my late puppy Bam-Bam nom noming on it in the back yard. Put her back together and now she keeps the 'fluences away. Hope you enjoy the little story.

Crappy cell phone photos...

Not a lolpic, for now all I've got is this shot - fresh from the digicam exactly 22 minutes ago - of three 2-day old rescue kitties I'm sitting up with tonight.

Gray Stripey in middle is the most robust, and the one on the right is a lot less dorky in real life than in the pic.

Please send us good thoughts for a comfortable night. The vet did not give them high chances (45%) because their mom was not healthy (bad cold, apparently chronic), not to mention she didn't take care of them and they were outside in pouring rain on wet leaves (hence their current perch in a basket in my bed). They are sleeping snugly right now but unfortunately they've been refusing the kitty formula and I'm trying to resign myself that this may not end well.

Tomorrow I will try to reintroduce them to their mom again, who is one of two stray cats I've been feeding for 4-5 weeks. She ignored them when she came to eat tonight even though I put her bowl right next to their heads. Maybe tomorrow she'll be more amenable. But for now, we need good thoughts for the night.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm afraid I'm the best option they had under the circs, which is not saying much. Wet and squealing in the rain is no way to start life.

This is why spaying is so important. Poor dears, even if they make it, it's not much of a life, as a stray. Although in their case I would try to make them adoptable. And I am also going to have the mom - and the other stray I feed - spayed, through a local trap-neuter-release program which will help me catch 'em. The kitties too if I still have them at the time. We don't need a repeat of this drama.

You are a wonderful person for taking care of those cats that way.

BTW, when my cat had a 'cold' like the momma cat you described today, I gave him warmed chicken broth, it was the only thing he would eat. Just wanted to let you know.

Just a bit :) Normally she's very photogenic. Not sure wtf was going on in that one. She wasn't the focus of the picture, either, but was in the background, maybe 10% of the original.

I stay at a lot of hotels, usually cat-free. However, at a Hampton Inn in Albany, Ga., a kitten wandered into the parking and started crying outside my room. I took the little brat in so she wouldn't keep me awake all night or get squished by a truck.



For the next three days, I checked with the front desk to see if anybody had lost a pet. By the end of the stay, the desk manager offered to have the kitten taken to a local shelter. I politely declined, as she would likely be euthanized. With that, the kitten was off to her new life in Birmingham.



Georgia now spends her days lounging on the sofa and evenings outside in the woods beside my apartment before coming back in for the night. When not engaged in catly pursuits, she sometimes helps with the laundry.

Looks like Georgia knew exactly whose room to come to. It was kind of the same thing with one of my cats, Chino (shown below in the blurry camera phone picture). She came up to some friends of mine in a Taco Bell parking lot when she was a baby and again, they knew exactly who to bring her to.
