A re-posted comment from another thread:

I find that believable. Carter was just there and pissed a lot of people off.

It was still a stupid thing to bring our own politics into an address in a foreign nation.

/Can we give both Carter and Bush a spanking for this?
//Vote for me!

/Needs to make a "Summon Obamanuts" card for the replies to come.
//You know who you are.

You know what was funny?

Listening to RW talk radio today and hearing them protest that "Bush never said Obama! He didn't say Democrats!".

I mean, as if they thought people might believe them.

Then the best part was when one caller said "I think the Democrats protest too much. It's as if they know that what they want is so vile that they should be ashamed of it!"

Projection is usually the surest key to what is going on in these radio shows.

Wait wait wait wait wait.

I'm supposed to believe Ed Gillespie now? Isn't he the guy that wanted to ban exit polling because it showed the true motivation behind the voting patterns of Republicans and exposed possible errors in counting in several contentious election districts in 2000 and 2004?

Yep, okay. Sure thing Ed. I'm sure you're just an impartial observer in all of this.

burndtdan: White House aides are acknowledging that this was a reference to the fact that Sen. Obama and other Democrats have publicly said that it would be ok for the U.S. President to meet with leaders like the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad. (new window)

Thanks burntdan:

Perino's comments contradict what Bush administration aides are admitting privately. As CNN's Ed Henry reported earlier today:

White House aides are acknowledging that this was a reference to the fact that Sen. Obama and other Democrats have publicly said that it would be ok for the U.S. President to meet with leaders like the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmedinejad.

NBC's John Yang also said that a White House official told him that Bush's comments were aimed not only at Obama, but at former President Jimmy Carter and his suggestion that the United States talk with Hamas.

Good thing you found out that anonymous White House officials have come forward to these reporters to say that Bush was indeed referring to Obama.

according to msnbc (i can't remember who said it, don't feel like hunting down a video), the white house tipped the media off the day before the knesset that bush was going to be saying things that would make obama angry.

this whole "we weren't talking about obama" thing is nothing more than an incredibly transparent and childish ploy.

Isn't this the same speech that Chris Matthews destroyed that RW radio host on? How the fark does this even make sense to say Obama will be an appeaser? I don't know of any statements that he has made that are appeasement, save perhaps any ones that have been taken out of context. Just more Dubya and company scare tactics.

Yes. We must acknowledge these messages that secret "Senior White House Officials" are giving to the secret reporters at Keith Olbermanns show. It's a conspiracy to make sure as many people are watching as possible. If it gets air time on MSNBC, you know as many people as possible will be reached.

No one can "pick on me". People such as yourself have tried to troll me by stalking me in political threads and whinging about global warming (as you're doing here) or going into science threads and performing the inverse.

I don't care for hangers on, much less of the creepy male attention-whore variety. Rather than start this meaningless drama again, why don't you go chase the shirttails of someone else? I get enough attention from weirdos on Fark as it is. There seem to be plenty of people that have no problem insulting your political beliefs. I understand that you can't tell when you're bothering other people, but my suggestions/requests/posts publicly calling you out are a not so subtly way to not "cry" but inform you that you are creepy. I can certainly deal with that- I'm by no means feeling threatened physically- heh. I'd bet good money on reasons why. But that's not the point. Consider it just a friendly tip that doesn't seem to stick: When someone says "knock off the creepy stalking", try it. If for no other reason than a change of pace.

It doesn't matter if President Bush was talking about Obama directly. What matters is he compared anyone who wants to use diplomacy as a strategy against our possible enemies to Nazi appeasers. Given Obama's position on meeting with leaders of these groups he has every right to attack the President for his statements.

The White House is basically saying "The President was not attacking Obama; he was just attacking his principles." You can't have it both way folks.

pro·jec·tion (prə-jĕk'shən)

Psychology.

1. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others: "Even trained anthropologists have been guilty of unconscious projection-of clothing the subjects of their research in theories brought with them into the field" (Alex Shoumatoff).
2. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or desires to someone or something as a naive or unconscious defense against anxiety or guilt.

I'm going to have to agree with the call by Donald_McRonald. I -let me bold this for you- source statements so as not to hint at or confuse an argument from authority.

If I was looking to be an "elitist (can't do better than Hillary's talking points? Weak)" that was on some sort of kick to get recognition for my "self deluded superior views", I've certainly gone about it in the worst possible way.

Yeah, reasonable, informed, young people looking for change. We know who we are too. Although some people take it too far, there are idiots in every movement. The plan to paint Obama supporters as cultists is remarkable demonstration of the effect magical thinking can have on people. If you keep saying we're a cult, we're a cult to some people. Just because we don't buy the bullshiat "problems" with Obama the media has put forward. I'm not saying the man is perfect, but come on. Wright, Bittergate, "sweetie," lame lame lame. They said Bill Clinton farking murdered people and these are the best things on Obama you can come up with? It's seriously a great indication that he is cleaner than the common politician. Obdicut: muck4doo: I am "stalking" you...fark off Jon Snow. You're a paranoid dipshiat that is too insensitive for his own good. Go be an internet tough guy douche somewhere else.

You're coming off as way, way creepier than he is. Not to mention dim.

Coming from you I'll take that as a compliment.

/You should go take tough internet guy lessons with Jon Snow.
