Geez, Huck. I'm one of those "I like Huck - it's his policies that suck" people, but that was REALLY awful. You might've just blown #2 on the McCain ticket if the 24/7s pick up on this.

Yay for douchetastic headlines! It's such faux outrage when someone gets called on cracking wise about a major political figure getting assassinated.

The nerve!

EriksMom 2008-05-16 03:34:33 PM
Hmm... something tells me that making a joke about the first potential African American president getting shot at won't go over too well with folks. Especially after oh... I dunno. Martin Luther King getting shot in Memphis 30 years ago.

But you should always watch your back. Even if you're a rich white woman.

If Dems are going to attack McCain's age, hinting he might die in office, why can't Repubs attack Obama's likely assassination-target status? Really, who is more likely to die in office?

That is an idiotic comparison. The issue with McCain is his health. That is a far cry from joking about the possibility of murder.

it's not outrageous, but the MSM has talked about flag pins and weather Obama ordered coffee or OJ, so I don't mind someone else having to deflect some fluff for a while.

I caught part of it during his retort earlier. He mention the 2nd Amendment, referred to any gun laws are viewed as "a camel sticking his nose under the tent" by the NRA. That's not verbatim but close, it went right by because everyone is all a twitter about appeasement. I sure perked up on it though.

I thought it funny because he could have a slightly better metaphor but he chose a "camels nose under a tent". That wasn't too bright.

zero.db 2008-05-16 03:38:16 PM
Media faux outrage, maybe. But this IS an issue for anyone that claims to value free and fair elections. Imagine if Barack made that same comment about McCain - he'd be on the next flight to Gitmo. His middle nae IS Hussein, after all.

Truthfully, I love it tho. If it keeps Huckaby off the ballot, I'm all for it. If McCain can't get the religeous nuts a-votin' for him, his goose is cooked!!

And let's face it -- he's pretty much at the age where most people are retiring and playing with the grandkids, playing golf, napping... not taking on new jobs, much less one of the most demanding and stressful jobs in the world.

McCain's age is absolutely relevant and I honestly would not be shocked if he died in office based on how much of a toll stress takes on the body. It's not like he appears to be that healthy to begin with, he's rather old to be taking office.

I just keep thinking, would Ronald Regan have been re-elected if people knew he was developing the symptoms of alzheimer's disease while he was in office? I fear McCain is in a similar state.

It's really not the same as joking about a man being killed -- especially since the joke was basically "ha! ha! he's black! and will get killed!" rather than a statement of fact about McCain's age/ possible health issues.

In grade six we had to do a skit about politics one time and there was this black kid in my class. For his skit he came out and says "Please welcome (his name), first black President of the United States of America!" and starts humming "Hail to the Chief" or whatever it is they play when the President shows up. Halfway to his makeshift podium he pretended to get shot about eight times. I laughed my ass off.

I think the joke he was trying to make was that Obama is afraid of guns. Nothing racial.

I've up to my ears in faux outrage from the media this primary season, but how the fark does this at all apply?

Obama gets hassled for calling somebody 'sweetie.' FARKING SWEETIE.

Obviously Huckabee doesn't realize that it's wrong, wrong, wrong to say anything non-positive about Obama.

Anything less than glorifying will not be tolerated by Obama Nation, who insist that everyone drink the kool aid.

"That was Barack Obama, he just tripped off a chair, he's getting ready to speak," said the former Arkansas governor, to audience laughter. "Somebody aimed a gun at him and he dove for the floor."

This is a joke? I've really got to book some gigs on the NRA Comedy Tour. I'm certain my jokes about my old country Russia, impersonations of Ed Sullivan, and watermelon smashing will bring the house down.

FTA: Obama supports extending the assault weapons ban, limits on gun sales, and a national law against carrying concealed weapons...

I fully support the right to own weapons for hunting, sport or self-defense, but I can't for the life of me come up with a good reason why any private citizen would need an assault rifle.

He sure added a lot of fodder today, he called out McCain "any time, any where" and he attacked the NRA as fearing a "camels nose under the tent" with any gun laws. He's got balls..I have to concede that.

Yes, joking about someone getting shot (which would get a visit from the Secret Service if it were anyone else) is DEFINITELY grounds to continue your Hillary Wasn't Elected Crybaby World Tour.

Mainstream media faux outrage

Faux outrage? No Faux outrage is when CNN pushed the ever loving shiat out of a story about Obama calling a reporter sweetie (and in an affectionate way, not sarcastically). She didn't even complain, but CNN picked up the story and ran with it like it was the sinking of the Titanic. He later apologized.

This, this is not faux outrage. This is just plain farked up. It can be taken as a form of intimidation when he's speaking to the IRA. Especially if they all laughed at it.

Please die slowly in a fire, racist hicks.
