Wait a minute... did he say Putin was the president of Germany?

He's more like Bush than I thought.

Bhruic 2008-05-16 01:40:55 PM
Well, it was nice of him to admit that the only reason they sent troops to the Middle East was because of oil. I hadn't heard that clip before. So despite all the other lies the video exposed, I guess that's one truth.

The old guy is senile:

President of Germany, Vladimir Putin...

Al-Qaeda are Shiites, which is why they are working with Iran! (Psst, they are actually a Sunni group. But don't worry about those details. I'm sure Hussein was working with them too, in super duper secrecy)

1000 years in Iraq!

If he hadn't pandered to the far right so much the last couple of years, he'd have a chance in the general election. But he couldn't have gotten the nomination without it. So he's screwed.

People can say what they want but McCain is a good man. He has served this country faithfully for 40 + years. That is more than any of us (including Obama and Clinton) will ever do. Obama will probably be better for this country but it will not be because he is better qualified or has more or better experience than McCain.

JuicenX: So wait, are people actually thinking of voting for this lunatic?

Oh yes. I certainly am.

Admittedly, I would much rather vote for my main man Barack.

However, if Hillary somehow manages to steal the NOM NOM NOM, I will vote for McCain. I would vote for Cthulhu, but I think McCain will destroy the world faster.

Not really. I think it is important for this country to have a democrat as president. Half the country feels left out and it is time they had their man or woman give it a shot but I still think McCain is the better person out of the 3. In short it would be better to have a democratic president for country unity which is what I think is needed most.

Unseen Ape 2008-05-16 02:27:49 PM
I was afraid this was going to be a bunch of McCain's comments taken out of context to make him look bad, but the video seemed surprisingly in context. Still made him look bad though.

I tend Republican but no. Hell no.
McCain is 4 more years of Neo-Cons and the US needs that like we need a nuclear war. Get me another Eisenhower or Lincoln and I'll think about it, but this party needs to give up the military habit and realize that Regan actually sucked as a conservative.
Small government includes a small military.

Yeah... Ron Paul is a real nut. The endless parade of ignorance in the media and the refusal of folks to READ anything during this entire race will bear fruit in very bad ways.

Despite the fact that I disagree with him on most policy items, I gotta back Obama over McCain. We should have someone in the White House that at least believes what he says and has basic reasoning skills. Oh yeah.. not lying every time he opens his mouth is a huge benefit too.

What a retarded race this has been.

Yes, Iran is helping AQI. I'm sorry if Islam isn't as simple as "omg I hate teh sunnis!!!11"

Between cross-border supply-lines, organizational support or the fact that we've found Iranian arms and materials in AQI bases, I didn't think this issue was even controversial.

This. The GOP set course straight for the Sun when they picked Reagan over Goldwater.

Governor of California Reagan = Republican
POTUS Reagan = not Republican.

Sorry freepers and Coultergeists, Ronnie actually destroyed a lot of the tenets you claim to ascribe to now. GWB may have pushed the GOP over a cliff but it was Reagan that drove up there to be pushed over.

If you think anything will change for the better after the 2008 election (No matter who wins.) you are not paying attention. When has any politician ever made anything better?

Politicians are all scum. They only want more power and more money.
Anyone stupid enough to think that "their" candidate is any different has their head wAAAy up their ass.

This. The GOP set course straight for the Sun when they picked Reagan over Goldwater.

Umm, there was never a choice between them. Goldwater was spanked by LBJ, Reagan spanked Carter over a decade later. Neither of them were running for president at the same time.

Ronnie actually destroyed a lot of the tenets you claim to ascribe to now. GWB may have pushed the GOP over a cliff but it was Reagan that drove up there to be pushed over.

Reagan's foreign policy was more bluster than blunder (certainly better than anyone since Ike). Clinton copied his style of bugging out of screw-ups (Beirut-Mogadishu) and sticking with picking on little targets (Grenada-Serbia).

Bush just forgot what got him elected as a Republican (humble foreign policy, no nation building) and bought into an exaggerated sense of America's power and the public's willingness to exercise it.

"The fundamental question is: What is the United States' interest in Lebanon? It is said we are there to keep the peace. I ask, what peace? It is said we are there to aid the government. I ask, what government? It is said we are there to stabilize the region. I ask, how can the U.S. presence stabilize the region?... The longer we stay in Lebanon, the harder it will be for us to leave. We will be trapped by the case we make for having our troops there in the first place.
What can we expect if we withdraw from Lebanon? The same as will happen if we stay. I acknowledge that the level of fighting will increase if we leave. I regretfully acknowledge that many innocent civilians will be hurt. But I firmly believe this will happen in any event." -John McCain 25 years ago...

Despite all his experience, he can't remember which country Putin was President of? From the nonsense remarks on the KGB & WWII you can tell this guy is trapped in the past. He has the old way of thinking, the thoughts that were popular 30 years ago, the logic that made sense 30 years ago. Things change, but John McCain still looks at them like they haven't. That is his problem. We need a leader with a fresh view of the world, not a jaded one.
