I don't know that I'd go so far as to call the Republican "brand" dog food. Milkbones, maybe, those little ones for the tiny handbag dogs. Or those little, twisted strips of pork you can buy to throw down as a quick bite. Or, I know! Those little hotdog-looking snausage things that smell a little bit like farts.

Bush and McCain don't know about it either.
they seem to think appeasement is simply talking to people.
No, appeasement is giving in to their demands. Not talking to them.
Like when Reagan gave the Iranians guns for help with getting hostages released in Lebanon. They were duped. They give aid to the enemy. They illegally went behind the back of the congress and the American people.
Hell we sponsors terrorism when it benefits us.

yequalsy 2008-05-16 10:26:09 AM
Tom Davis should know. The Virginia Republican party is even more retarded than your typical Republican party organization. They blocked Davis from getting the Senate nomination. As a result Mark Warner will almost certainly get the open Senate seat and Virginia will then have Democrats for both senators as well as governor. Plus the retiring Davis's seat in NoVa probably goes Dem, too. Not that I'm complaining but you really have to try to fark up that badly.

HotWingConspiracy [TotalFark] 2008-05-16 10:28:11 AM
In an election year that holds dismal prospects for congressional Republicans, possible financial problems at the cash-strapped NRCC are the last thing the GOP needs.

All of this doom and gloom talk just seems like a ploy to drum up fund raising.

He was looking for James to name specifically what Chamberlain did that was appeasing Hitler. James was able to do nothing but stammer, meaning he didn't know shiat, and was just trying to trot out a new talking point.

Well ,Tom Davis, the Republicans traded a party platform for demonizing the opposition. That works real good until you fark up the country and have no talking points on how it got there . . accept to blame the 'liberal fascists' that what to turn the country into 'socialism' -- especially when there's a Black man that is 'indistinguishable' from Adolf Hitler, yet still claims to be a Muslim apostate.

Really, have you just now wondered what your message is? A few really *deluded* souls still wonder to places like Fark and start babbling about big government and taxes -- as if Republicans ever stood for that.

You're already off the shelf fool.

Are you really that obtuse? Matthews wanted James to say exactly how Chamberlain was appeasing Hitler and the guy just kept saying "APPEASEMENT!!111!!" without actually saying what Chamberlain did, which was GIVE Hitler Czechoslovakia to hold off war for a bit longer.

Obama has said nothing about giving Iran, Hamas, or N. Korea anything. He wants to TALK to them. That is not even close to appeasement.

And to the Dogfood example, well the last Dogfood pulled from the shelves was that IAMs Stuff that had been adulterated by the Chinese factory. Typical Lib trash, always trying to talk about things and give examples of stuff. That's the problem with you people: you have no sense of right or wrong, black or white. It's always shades of gray, moral ambiguity, and nuance.

No, what he called him on was not knowing high school history. The guy babbled about "appeasement," not knowing that the actual history-type EVENT was the partition of Czechoslovakia, and handing over the ethnic German part (Sudetenland) over to Germany. The conservative echo chamber and talk radio is cranking out "commentators" that can't comment on current events, because they have no idea about the past. The guy deserved to be humiliated in front of God and everybody.

But it's true. the Republicans need a complete image overhaul. but how will we middle of the road Republicans get rid of those far right screaming christian fundamentalists who decided they own us? I truly believe that the majority of Pubbies are middle of the road people. they'll take some ideas from the left, and some from the right and ignore the outerlimits of both sides. But we've been overtaken by the wackos.

So who will be our Obama? I'm not talking about his politics, but we need a new man or woman to lead us. A clean image and fresh thinker, not someone that's been dirtied by the entrenched Republicans. Maybe this election will be the best thing that ever happens to the Republican Party. throw out all the liars, cheats, thieves, drunks and ne'er-do-wells and rebuild the party from the ground up.

But I doubt it.

I'm guessing all the clocks in your house only have a 12 and 6 on them then?

If you were truly appauled by moral relativity then you would hold this country to the simple standard of "if it's wrong when they do it, then it's wrong when we do it".

Childish I know, but there is an elegance in its simplicity.

The fundies didn't "decide" that they owned you. They took over the party fair and square by organizing on the state level, and doing the grunt work of running campaigns. The money people in your party decided to kiss their asses because they liked all those people who consistently came out to vote, rain or shine, instead of when they had nothing better to do, which is the habit of most people.

Want your party back? Work for it. And let the fundies know you don't need or want their votes.

Actually it's because the current crop of Republicans are crooked and incompetent and advocate policies that are disconnected from reality. And also because social conservatism is increasingly going to be a loser as demographics shift. You guys need to abandon the premise of "social conservatism" and remake yourselves as just a straight libertarian or better yet "fiscal responsibility" party, and you might become a viable choice again. Stop letting ideology drive your policies and start being pragmatic again.

Wink twice if your pulling my leg.

If you aren't I'd be interested in knowing why you think the following passage is indicitive of American integrity and values and therefore this behavior should be defended:

On May 25, 2005, Amnesty International released its annual report calling the facility the "gulag of our times"[37] [38] Lord Steyn called it "a monstrous failure of justice," because "... The military will act as interrogators, prosecutors and defense counsel, judges, and when death sentences are imposed, as executioners. The trials will be held in private. None of the guarantees of a fair trial need be observed. [39]

Sorry guys, but... You did this to yourself.

The pendulum MUST SWING, and the more you try to hold onto it, the heavier it gets until you just can't hold it anymore, and that just gives it all the more momentum when it finally does swing.

I've got to admit, though, you ALMOST had me worried that you managed to nail it into place.

But look on the bright side, eventually it will swing back to your side... And hopefully you'll be a bit wiser this time.
