It is unpossible for conservatives, especially internet conservatives, to have anything in common with Obama. If they do, it's simply a clever negro ruse.

Raise taxes? We've got to pay for the war somehow that resulted from Bush pretending to give a shiat about national security.

You don't get to have any shiny wars without paying for them.

Increase welfare spending.

I wasn't aware this was a part of Obama's campaign. Assuming it is(BIG ASSUMPTION) I don't see the big deal. This is just a wedge issue and doesn't have any real impact on the federal budget.

Pretend to give a shiat about national security.

That would be Bush. He wanted to go into Iraq from day one he found a way to trick everyone using National Security as the sales pitch, and now we have a real National Security crisis. Our debt and lack of desire to pay it off. Ending the war shows a whole lot more concern about national security than staying there indefinitely. Also, Obama's plan for an Apollo project for renewable energy sources is a huge national secuirty initiative.

Making bombs is not the only way to ensure national security.

Shall I go on?

Please do, this is fun.

1. How can we pay for the debt without raising taxes on the most well-off?
2. What is wrong with increased spending on social services to take of our fellow citizens
3. I don't think Obama is pretending. I'm surprised he didn't pull a Hilary. Democrats have to over compensate on national security. I bet Obama stays awake at night contemplating how to secure the border. Could you imagine if 9/11 happened on a liberal's watch?

Is that the extent of your ability to argue? Your dinner table must be a pretty farking dismal place. But let me ask you were in either man's positions did they advocate increased welfare spending. In fact, if you bothered to look instead of just speaking off the top of that barren wasteland that you call a brain, you'd find that Dukakis actually advocated for one of the first iterations of a welfare to work program both as governor of Mass and while a candidate for the presidency. He was not a classic liberal but rather was a more pragmatic technocrat.

But then you are a dumb ass so facts don't really matter.

I'm really amused that a lot of "conservatives" still have the balls to go with the "tax-raisin' libruls!" meme anymore. Your party has perfected the bill-stalling, post-dated check, borrow & spend, Rob-Peter-To-Pay-Paul system of economic governance. We've been putting the bills on VISA.

It hasn't occurred to any of you that maybe paying for your bills would be a good thing? And here I thought you folks had the majority of businessmen... can none of them operate a balance sheet?

Oh, and btw... whoever is elected is going to raise taxes. Bush Sr. couldn't even avoid doing it when he knew it was going to make a fool of him after that "Read My Lips" quip. Supply-side economics is not going to save you, your laughable Laffer curve is not magical.

People who live in Brookline see him all the time. Apparently he walks around quite a bit. I've seen him a couple of times at the Harvard School of Public Health, he lectures there on public policy.

bwesb 2008-05-15 03:17:22 PM
Perhaps the reason Obama will be a better candidate then Dukakis is that he probably remembers the GOP hatchet-job that Dukakis was subjected to; Willie Horton, Boston Harbor, and the apparently gold standard of GOP politics, attacking the wife.

Just let me be in the room when one of those GOP pieces of shiat tries to step to Michelle Obama.

Suicidal Writer: 1. How can we pay for the debt without raising taxes on the most well-off?

When the Bush tax cuts expire, rates go up in all brackets, not just "the most well-off."

2. What is wrong with increased spending on social services to take of our fellow citizens

In principle? Nothing. In reality? You have the largest overall federal budget in the history of the country and the highest tax revenues of all time are still not keeping us from record budget deficits and getting more ambitious with government spending while the value of the dollar continues to drop and the economy is stagnating don't make sense from an economic perspective, especially with the looming hit on Social Security and Medicaid as the boomers start hitting retirement age.

3. I don't think Obama is pretending. I'm surprised he didn't pull a Hilary. Democrats have to over compensate on national security. I bet Obama stays awake at night contemplating how to secure the border. Could you imagine if 9/11 happened on a liberal's watch?

The white flag would have flown up, but at least we wouldn't have invaded Iraq.
