Seriously, this.

My god, if Bush and Cheney had been willing to take the immense support they had after 9/11 and do something noble with it... what a difference that would make. I bet the permanent majority pipe-dream would be a reality. Heck, I might even support it.

Instead they decided mud-slinging politics and war-profiteering would be a better course of action. What utter bastards.

I don't think he really cares. Rove is a spineless whore who only does what will get him more power. He doesn't care about any party, government, or person.

I think that if the money was right he'd work for Obama. He's about as loyal as a maggot to a pile of shiat.

I know, but he will never HAVE power again. He had a brief flash of control- and now it's gone. On Jan 21st, 2009, no one in Washington will take his calls, and he knows that.

James Carville and Pat Buchanan are laughing at him. How you think THAT feels?

The GOP stands for plenty ...
Excessive spending while borrowing to the hilt until you go bakrupt.
Oppressive laws that make it easy to earn money but hard to enjoy life with said money.
Meaningless wars that hurt our image, our currency, our budget, and our people.

go go GOP!

You forgot the part about constructing a theocracy by proxy!

The Fundies have done more to drive people like me away from the Republican party than even a malignant, dickless twit like Rove has.

BMulligan 2008-05-15 01:58:22 PM
The modern GOP is a structure built on three legs - Rove was the strategist, DeLay was the tactician, and Abramoff was the bagman. With all three of these men now out of commission, the subsequent collapse of that structure is now complete.

This from the asshole who made sure anti-gay marriage amendments were on the ballots in swing states in 2004.

"Come on down to the polls and gay bash kids, and while you're there make sure to cast a vote for good ole patriotic George! He hates fags too!".

What a strategy - Making sure to maximize the amount of bigots that show up for your candidate by throwing them some "smear-the-queer" red meat.

Of course if Michelle Obama dares imply that this is a "mean country" she's a communist and must be relocated to Mars.

"Why is it tough sledding for Republicans? Public revulsion at GOP scandals was a large factor in the party's 2006 congressional defeat."

I wonder of how many of those scandals he was referencing he was directly involved with.

I can't wait for him to get nailed in the Seigelman fiasco. This is the most important election of Rove's life. If McCain get elected, there's no way he's going to force Rove to testify before congress. If Obama wins, Roves pudgy ass is going to make someone in prison very happy.

Has anybody ever read those columns that Rove writes where he tries to convince us that he's a neutral observer giving candid advice to both parties? They go something like this:

McCain's main weakness is his modesty. The man needs to be more upfront about what a war hero he is.

Obama's main weakness is that he's not doing a good enough job covering up the fact that he's a muslim terrorist sleeper agent.

Reagan at least attempted to but he had to deal with a Democrat congress. Bush had a Republican Congress there was no excuse for them NOT to balance the budget

The modern-day GOP is run by opportunists who want the best of both worlds. It has nothing to do with buckling to the will of Democrats and everything to do with pandering to both sides at once.

I am referring to the "Gee if we do what Ted Kennedy wants he and the press will like us" line of thinking. It goes back to one of Bush's first pieces of legislation which was an over bloated full of bureaucracy education bill essentially written by Ted Kennedy.

jjorsett 2008-05-15 02:25:20 PM
Conservatives stand for plenty. Unfortunately, the Republican party is busy turning itself into Democrat Lite by purging itself of conservatives. Not that it's doing them any good. If both parties are for higher taxes, higher spending, more regulation, and nannystatism, you may as well get it from the experts.

depmode98 2008-05-15 02:25:27 PM
Republicans need to get back to their core conservative values... a return to Reagenaism.. if you will... you remember, the good old times when we were selling weapons to iran to arm death squads in south america.

Well, okay. I understand you to that extent, then. Still it's not fair to blame Democrats. What the Republican Party has become was calculated and intentional -- it wasn't political cowardice, it was political expediency. The country was used to Reaganite Cold-War spending sprees, and damned if the Republicans weren't going to grant it, while lowering taxes so they could claim the moral high ground. It's madness.

Why would Carville and Buchanan be laughing? Neither of them have power. One is a CNN political contributor, the other is an MSNBC political contributor. And now that Rove is a political contributor to FOX News, I would suspect Rove feel just like Carville and Buchanan.

Or was that your point?
