Its been a bloodbath in Iraq for the last 4 years and that hasn't seem to bother them.

Three Crooked Squirrels [TotalFark] 2008-05-15 10:51:12 AM
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole acknowledged that the GOP faces a challenge and "must undertake bold efforts to define a forward-looking agenda that offers the kind of positive change voters are looking for."

So . . . the November strategy won't be "Liebruls will take your guns! Liebruls want to make your daughters gay and abort their babies! Republicans lead with Christian values, but Liebruls' preachers hate America!"

I hope the GOP does put forth a forward-looking agenda, but I seriously doubt they will.

I'm sure they'll fall back into form once they realize they can't pull off a forward-looking, change-based agenda. It'll be back to whipping up the base with phantom threats.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that whiteboard session.

"So...can anyone here define a forward-looking agenda that offers the kind of positive change voters are looking for."

*crickets*

"F*ck it. Let's just go with the 'Elitist Gay Islamofascist Liberal Left Wing Socialist Liberals are Going to Turn Your Guns Gay and Force Your Children to Speak Muslim' gambit and save ourselves a lot of time and money.

They just need to re-brand themselves. "Incompetent intrusive big government with close corporate ties" isn't cutting it.

I am looking so forward to seeing a Republican collapse. I can't say it'll happen to the extent that I and many others feel their party rightly deserves, but their collapse will be large and will be far-reaching (I hesitate to suggest that big democratic gains will energize the democratic party further and make it "cool" again).

So, the only thing I'm praying for is that the democrats don't blow it. If they stick to their guns and we get a more progressive and populist agenda going through the government channels, then we the people get years of prosperity.

jake_lex [TotalFark] 2008-05-15 11:47:33 AM
I'm sure their "forward looking agenda" will still go out of its way to refer to the Democratic nominee as "Barack Hussein Obama".

clancifer [TotalFark] 2008-05-15 12:13:12 PM
But I read on Hillaryis44.org that if Barrack HUSSEIN Obama gets the nomination then Republicans will win because poor white people would never vote for an elitist Muslim.

seventypercent [TotalFark] 2008-05-15 12:29:43 PM
I'm predicting that the Republicans will run on a "Kill Everybody" platform.

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-05-15 12:40:00 PM
The Washington Times has an article about GOP insiders admitting their strategy this November is "let's hope McCain is able to maintain his 'maverick' image and ride his coattails to not getting our asses kicked TOO bad." It's bad times for those guys.

FTA: Democrat Travis Childers' victory over Republican Greg Davis in Mississippi's 1st Congressional District yesterday dealt the GOP its third straight loss of a solid Republican district to insurgent Democrats in this year's special elections.

This made me chuckle.

It will be an interesting four years in our country's history.

You'll either get:

1. Obama and big Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress.

2. McCain, who has a demonstrable history of working pragmatically across the aisle in an attempt to get big things done, and a heavily Democratic Congress that can effortlessly override vetos.

Here's your chance, Demos. Fix the country. Fix the world.

(Of course I thought your chance was when Pelosi and Reid took over. I haven't been impressed.)

Plus, it's VERY bad for the GOP when DIRECTLY ON THE HEELS of McCain's "2013" speech, Bush decides to grab ALL the headlines for himself by comparing Obama and Democrats to Nazi appeasers.

Heckuva job, Bushie!

In Inigo's defense, Bush is only 43 if you count Cleveland twice. He's the 43rd President but only the 42nd person to be President.

I hate it when everyone misses the real message in these Floor Humper articles.

The message is - YOU NEED TO GET OUT AND VOTE BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO TAKE A BEATING IF YOU DON'T!
and all those horrible, horrible things that make up your absolutely worst nightmares that we have always told you about will all come true

"National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Cole acknowledged that the GOP faces a challenge and "must undertake bold efforts to define a forward-looking agenda that offers the kind of positive change voters are looking for."

How about first getting a decent candidate there Tom? I hope the Repubs do lose in November. Let Naive Newbie Obama win. He'll fark things up real bad and at least the Dems will be the ones to take the fall for it in 2012. Then, maybe, the Repubs will have a true conservative for a candidate (or even a Libertarian!).

We're in deep shiat no matter who wins in November anyway. Might as well let the Dems take the fall for it.

Not really. But I think Obama will try to break the record with the big government. He'll make it bigger than Bush ever thought of making it.
