Does anyone need anymore proof that Sharon sucks? She's ruined Ozzy and is apparently working on ruining heavy metal as much as she can.

I saw Ozzy in Jan at the Verizon center. He sucked. Seriously, the old guy moves like he should be in a nursing home, his voice was weak, and the "20 minute guitar solo/break for Ozzy" was torturous.

Oh yeah, the only songs he played were solo career B-sides. I guess he doesn't own the Sabbath catalogue. Maybe it would have been good 15 years ago, but not anymore. I left just feeling sorry for the guy.

/Zombie did his best to make up for it though.

Are these bands even really marketable? I mean, wouldn't Slayer bring more people out than Sevendust? I thought that type of stuff faded away like a decade ago.

I know Suffocation isn't gonna be the type of band for Ozzfest, but man.

I think the kind of people that would go to see Ozzy would not be able to put up with a Slayer concert. One you bring your fourteen year old brother the other you tape your money to your leg and hope not to trampled.

vernonFL: VFest FTW.

Last year was hotter than hell but great sets. First year was awesome. One of the better run festivals I've been too. Yup, I'll be back again this year, too.

I've got my ticket for the "Masters Of Metal" show in Chicago in August. Testement, Motorhead, Heaven And Hell (aka Dio Sabbath) and Judas Priest.

Saw Heaven And Hell twice list year, kicked ass both times. Saw Ozzy at Ozzfest and was disappointed.

Sharon Osbourne: "We're going to be a stadium destination festival for now--we have gone past doing the sheds every summer. We've given everyone else the blueprint and we have to keep evolving OZZFEST. This is just the beginning; AEG Live and I have a lot of new ideas for OZZFEST."

"Given everyone else the blueprint"?

Say what it really is...

"We copied Lollapalooza, and since they went to a one-stop festival, so will we."

Wait until next year, when Sharon's decided she's invented doing a festival over a weekend.

They might luck out and get some people because it's been so long since Metallica has played in the States, but there's nothing special to make me look at flight options. Call me if you get Phil Anselmo and Vinnie Paul to share the stage again.

There's a band called Goatwhore?

thegauntlet 2008-05-13 04:48:15 PM
Goatwhore rules!!! Also check out Accidental Goat Sodomy. Two great goat bands.

fark_of_the_covenant 2008-05-13 04:54:39 PM
Goatwhore does, in fact, rule.

I see Soilent Green will be at Ozzfest as well, I guess Ben Falgoust will have a busy day, as he does vocals for both bands.

Qbawl 2008-05-13 06:28:11 PM
Mayhem Festival.

ksr315 2008-05-13 07:05:13 PM
Outdoor music festival. In August. In Texas. Sounds like Hell to me.

reverend_riggs 2008-05-13 08:25:46 PM
Meh. This looks like a load of suck. Saw Ozzfest back in the day-'99 or so? The headliners:
Sabbath
Rob Zombie
Slayer
Primus

Now that was a damn good show.

FTA: "Ozzy has great relationships with all of the bands that have played OZZFEST," says Sharon.

Yeah, when he can remember who any of them are....

Ozzfest is generally dire, but my first one, several years ago, was among the best lineups I've seen, or could imagine: cool Swedish bands all day, then Slayer, newly reformed Priest, and original Sabbath. That right there is pretty much headbanger heaven.

Went the next year to the Maiden one: crappier bands overall, Maiden was great as always, but Ozzy just shiatted up the Sabbath set something awful. His voice was breaking and just conspicuously horrible. Finally he slammed the mic onto the stage and stormed off. He was soon coaxed out to finish the set, but the next day he announced his retirement.

/but he keeps performing....
//he sounded great the year before
