"It's like I should, if anybody should be punished for this," said Brittany. "I would way rather me go to jail than my Dad."

You can FEEL the dumbness emanating from her.

Zaladreyn [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 10:28:07 AM
Thats stupid. Why is it the father's fault that the girl can't do basic math?

/Ohio tag anyone?

SleepyMcGee [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 10:29:49 AM
I wonder how much vital background info is absent from this story.

Pocket Ninja [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 10:30:37 AM
There appears to be an astounding amount of information missing from this article.

real shaman [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 10:31:51 AM
It is just another logical progression to our glorious people's nanny state.

panfried [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 10:39:24 AM
So the girl is a 'tard. How exactly does this make anyone criminaly liable? This is America, right?

Here's a real article, not some BS blog about it.

Too bad the Bush family isn't from Ohio.

I am studying for my GED in Law so I am getting a kick out of these replies.

Thanks for posting that. Even with more information, this still seems very unreasonable. Why jail a man because her adult daughter can't pass a math test?

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 12:38:30 PM
Court administrators say that even though Brittany is an adult now, the case remains active in their court because she was a juvenile when the problems started.

When the law harms rather than helps, it should be resisted no matter the cost.

Sussman [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:02:04 PM
"Brittany has a daughter who's about 18-months-old."

How 'bout that.

Is the asinine tag taking the day off?

ah3133 2008-05-11 01:04:50 PM
The court says that even though Brittany ...

LEAVE BRITTANY ALONE!

lajimi [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:08:05 PM
Two words:

APPELATE COURT!

Most County Juvenile Court Judges shouldn't be allowed to decide where to have lunch.

Oh, that is some nice Win right there.

If your kid is too stupid, you go to jail, you never should have reproduced in the first place.

LarryDan43 2008-05-11 01:09:31 PM
My first wife was tarded, she's a pilot now.

acm82 2008-05-11 01:09:47 PM
wow thats really retarded, the jail time not the girl, even though both are retarded, now I have confused myself

midnite_farker 2008-05-11 01:09:53 PM
I was told there would be no math....

daverrod 2008-05-11 01:10:03 PM
I think subby failed the GED for linking to "short news" and not the actual WCPO article.

jimbodahobo 2008-05-11 01:10:44 PM
Honestly...I don't think the guy should be jailed but the mother should. Allowing your child to be that ignorant and lazy should be considered a form of abuse or negligence. Unless they can prove this girl's IQ is lower than about 80 it basically comes down to bad parenting for her not passing it.

libertylad 2008-05-11 01:12:04 PM
Happy Mothers Day!

tatum 2008-05-11 01:12:13 PM
El_: If your kid is too stupid, you go to jail, you never should have reproduced in the first place.

One presumes you remembered Mother's Day AND called ahead to make sure you were on her visitor's list.
No physical contact is permitted. Do not pass anything to, or accept anything from, the inmates.

next jail the homeless

eno 2008-05-11 01:12:32 PM
I have NO OPINION on this one way or the other.

I am adamantly ambivalent. I take no position on this, and I don't care what happens next, nor did I give a seconds thought to what preceded this. Of all the things I care about, this issue is not among them.

/I am 100% resolute on this opinion.

Thanks for posting the article. Even with the additional info, it's idiotic that this man was jailed.

Doctor Funkenstein [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:13:30 PM
I'm confused. Is this a snowflake thread, an unjust government thread or a retard thread?

Wolfinstl 2008-05-11 01:14:27 PM
Once again, the man gets farked.

bunner [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:15:20 PM
Dad loses job, sits in tank, daughter can't do math...

You know all that "punish men for everything we don't men to raise our snowflakes... we'll just let the justice system do it" thing?

It didn't work.

Did he not raise her?

I say make them both take remedial classes together until she passes.

This applies for Brittany as well:

How is hurting to try to get this girl an education?

Forget jail just make both of them take remedial math.

More_Like_A_Stain 2008-05-11 01:16:55 PM
He wouldn't be going to jail if this was in Florida. The judge wouldn't be able to pass the GED either.

Uncle Karl 2008-05-11 01:18:43 PM
Sussman: "Brittany has a daughter who's about 18-months-old."

Yeah, she is so bad at math she is not even sure how old her kids is.

Tachikoma [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:18:46 PM
It's a good thing this wasn't the consequence for most math exams. My poor, poor father. He would have been in jail for ages because I never could pass the math section of WASL.

/I flunked the math section because they didn't like my handwriting
//literally, that was the reason I was given when I asked

Daddakamabb 2008-05-11 01:20:16 PM

Well, she's obviously not a brain trust but at least she is not trying to blame anyone else. This is not something I think anyone should be jailed for, least of all the dad.

EViLTeW [TotalFark] 2008-05-11 01:22:19 PM
Thank god that hardened criminal is off the streets. I feel safer already.

On a more serious note, a parent can't MAKE a 16 year old do anything. You can threaten them, ground them, etc, that doesn't mean they'll do it. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Snowflake Tubbybottom 2008-05-11 01:22:19 PM
Well the good news is that after completing your prostitution exchange with her you'll be able to confuse the hell out of her and probably get more money back then you paid her.

TxRabbit 2008-05-11 01:22:43 PM

she is 18 and not only that but how can a court force someone to get a GED

How many hours do you think she spent studying for the GED exam in order to make sure he didn't go to jail? Think she got private tutoring or took a review course?

NannyStatePark 2008-05-11 01:24:24 PM
This guy should take some action. He has to get this kid diagnosed with a learning disability STAT. Then he should sue for discrimination and having his constitutional rights violated.

But if this kid wasn't behaving perfectly, and had issues with the law while he had legal custody, he was still stupid not to document the situation with an affadavit of residency even if he didn't have the custody decree changed.

I'm also interested in what sort of truancy this was. If a kid walks off a campus, or hides in a bathroom during a class, in my opinion the school failed to supervise a minor properly and should take some heat.

/And I know how to drive.

Wow. This has everything. A nanny state jailing people because of an education requirement that, face it, would do nothing for this dumbass girl. A dumbass TEEN PREGNANT who can't pass the math section of the GED (I'm pretty sure that ain't rocket science). A mother who was the cause of all of this, and yet completely uninvolved, and asinine court orders.

I love it.

Welcome to America. Here's your TV and lawnchair.
