"Hillary is in this race because of people like you and places like this and no matter what they say," Clinton said. "And no matter how much fun they make of your support of her and the fact that working people all over America have stuck with her, she thinks you're as smart as they are. She thinks you've got as much right to have your say as anybody else. And, you know, they make a lot of fun of me because I like to campaign in places like this, they say I have been exiled to rural America, as if that was a problem. I don't know about you, but I'd rather be here than listening to that stuff I have to hear on television, I'd rather be with you. There is a simple reason: You need a president a lot more than those people telling you not to vote for her."

Terry McAuliffe is on MTP right now, spewing the current line of Clinton bullshiat. At first it was making me angry, and I wanted to piss on his face out of rage. But then I smelled the desperation, and remembered that he's only grasping at straws. I still wanted to piss on his face, but now just for the pure entertainment value.

Isn't it obvious? We're spending all this time on the sidelines, adding up the numbers and questioning her gall, when the entire time she knows she can't win... but she doesn't want Obama to win either.
She knows that she'll be close to 70 by the time Obama gets done with his term, thus eliminating a lot of her electability, UNLESS she's able to force four years of McCain politics by dividing the Democrats. Then she can come back in four years to save us and say, "See? I told you Obama couldn't win against McCain... And look where we're at now.." And, after four more years of Bush politics, we'll run back to her, forgetting all the scheming and lying she did to put us in such a position.

Clinton was a dog, no question, but I hardly think he is comparable to Bush. He never got us into an infinite, unwinnable war, handed out billions of dollars in no bid contracts to his friends, or made light of his blatant mistakes and/or lies which led to the death of thousands of our soldiers ("Where are those WMD's? Where oh where could they be? Yuk yuk yuk...")

Clinton got a BJ on the side and lied about it so his wife wouldn't kill him.

HA HA HA! Wow...

If she were loyal, she would have bowed out already. If she was ethical, she wouldn't have used every dirty Rovian trick in the book to try to get the nomination. And if she cared about her friends in the party, she would have used a couple of them in her campaign that are now telling her it's time to bow out instead of surrounding herself with yes men.

Here's another one - I can't stop:

If the party thinks that sticking a woman on the ticket would shore up the gap .. they are nuttyieir than I had any idea. One thing, a woman on the ticket .. would have to be Hillary. She is far more qualified than any other woman in America.

Sadly true. Although I really loved Clinton in the 90s, especially when he out-newted Newt during their epic budget battles, and agreed with Hillary's 'right-wing conspiracy' claims, and dismissed as mere politics all the '-gate' accusations, I wonder if the Republicans could have been right all along. I...I...I...can't deal with that!

Well, the most likely way Clinton will ever become President now is if McCain wins and she challenges him in 2012. Come 2016, she might be feeling too old.

Well, it's obvious that only corrupt, multi-millionaire, ivy-league educated political machines can "get" rural coalminers. Because, you know, they've been there. In the mines. Actually, maybe that would explain the brain damage they have clearly suffered.

It's pretty much the only way Democrats can win. Carter? Too nice in '80. Mondale? Too nice in '84. Dukakis? Too nice in '88. Gore? Too nice in '00. Kerry? Too nice in '04.

Clinton knew how to play the game.

Correction: Carter? Already f*cked in '80. Mondale? Only reason he was there was that he sucked a little less than the others in '84. Dukakis? Two words--tank helmet. Gore? F*cked himself by distancing himself from Clinton. Kerry? Weak-kneed pussy who never defended himself.

None of these guys was 'too nice.'

is that why she started the game with the biggest advantages one could hope for in politics, and is now losing in a rather embarassing manner?

yes, it's because she knows how to play the game. and obama bowled a 37 because he knows how to play that game.

Digitalstrange 2008-05-11 12:00:44 PM
ummmm Carter wasnt "Too nice" in 1980 he was too incompetant in the 4 preceeding years. As to the others they were too bland and uninspiring.

Dole was the same problem. Smart, decent guy, probably wouldve made a hell of a president but he was dull as a pound of wet liver.

Sounds like a profane version of "Kerry was too nice," dude, lol. In fact I would say that yes, both Gore and Kerry WERE "too nice" during their runs for the presidency. They both thought the smears against them ("HE SAID HE INVENTED THE INTERNET, ROFLCOPTERS!!!!11" and the Swift Boat Veterans) would be dismissed by the public as absurd, and they weren't. They both never rolled up their sleeves and fought back. I know I've read interviews with Gore where he's said it, I'm pretty sure Kerry's also said that if they had it to do over again, they'd "take the gloves off."

What makes me happy about Obama in this way? Think of the mud he's dealt with AND HE'S GETTING NOMINATED. Wright would've sunk anyone else. Bittergate would've sunk anyone else. But - BUT - he fought back. He has a rapid response team eerily similar to Clinton 1992's War Room dedicated to getting the facts and rebuttals out there IN THE SAME NEWS CYCLE with the GOP smears. Obama will be just fine.

thamike 2008-05-11 12:13:15 PM
One of the ways Clinton doomed herself was too unabashedly condescend to everyone about our naive sheeplike nature, explaining that we are falling for "just words" and being blindly hopeful and dreamy. It's very insulting. Not to her supporters, though, which might lead one to an assumption or two about them.
