Methinks the driver was a little tired. Hopefully he pulls through.

The turkey was more tired.

Commercially farmed ones tend to be, because they've been bred to be so heavy as to make flight impossible. Wild turkeys roost high in trees, for which flying is pretty much a pre-requisite.

Is it bad if I am more concerned about the beer?

Wild Turkey is good stuff. Why in the world would someone leave some outside for a truck to hit?

The state Department of Transportation cleaned up the scene.

Standard equipment for a case like this is a bucket of ice and a highball.

But how many does it take to carry a coconut?

Smart critters too- when i lived in oregon, they were around in passels and scads and just all over the place until the afternoon
before turkey season opened. next day- all gone!

They are not that smart, I have shot at one missed and called it back in range.

I think that title falls to the domesticated chicken. Broccoli with legs.

Probably, now that you mention it. Probably smarter once you cut their head off.

Domestic turkeys can drown in the rain. Something hits their heads, they look up with their beaks open and choke on the raindrops...

Wild turkeys get hit by cars, and I've stumbled upon them in the forset before. Not bright, but I've heard they get pretty skittish during hunting season.

I dont understand mixing beer with liquor. Irish Car Bombs are okay I guess, but Id rather sip on the Bailey's and enjoy the Guinness.

bunner: I thought they were non-flying birds.

Only the domestic ones. Wild turkeys are fairly aerodynamic. Fairly. They are large birds, "ground" birds as the saying is, and don't fly around a great deal.

I call shenanigans!

You wouldn't think so, but wild turkeys can fly. Got a ton of them where I live. They seem to "forget" how to fly until I let my dogs out of the house.. they remember pretty farking quick then.

NoblePatrick 2008-05-11 07:55:19 AM
Where I live, we have a wild turkey hen strutting around downtown. My theory is that it's escaped city hall (ZING!). I've seen it at least 4 times in the last month, I hope to never hit the damn thing. Here's a story about it...Link (new window)

I did a double take at the local (state run) liquor store when they had Wild Turkey "Small Batch" in their higher end whiskey cabinet. WTF?
