I wonder what charges are pending, and if they're better than a DUI...

I don't see what's unlikely about the headline. It sounds like the subby pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Where's the Dumbass tag?

I don't understand this use of the unlikely tag I think dumass would more appropriate.

Dude should get an award for at least being smart enough not to drive drunk with a 9 year old in the car.

I think subby was going for something like "You think you got a drunk driver? Unlikely!"

Apparently, the 9-year-old has done this before:

Apparently, Massively Multiplayer Addict is from some place where 9-year-olds driving drunks around is very likely.

so does anyone know what would be worse, in a legal/punishment sense?

DUI with a 9yo in the car

or

Being so drunk you actually let your 9yo drive?

According to the article, it is not only likely, but it definitely and without question happened.

Horrible use of Unlikely tag. Subby might as well have called this Ironic.

I think the "Unlikely" came from the subby's belief that the drunk person was driving, and when he got pulled over, switched seats with the kid.

Could have happened either way, really. I've seen several cases of pre-teens driving drunk parents around in this area, and I've also seen cases of people shoving their kids or other passengers into the driver's seat upon getting pulled over.

"Why did you let a 9 year old drive?"

"Well, the 12 year old can't drive a stick."

Now that you say this, it's totally obvious. Unlikely tag indeed, of course the nine year old wasn't driving. Dumbass tag for me.

I gotta stop posting on fark when I'm drunk.

DUI with 9yo in the car is both DUI and endangering a child, whereas the second is just regular child endangerment.

Unfortunately this is not the first time I have heard of this...
I live in Wisconsin, where there are bars on almost every block, even in the country.
Growing up, I remember hearing about this happening more than a few times. The difference is that kid would only be driving down an old country road, and I have not heard of anyone actually getting caught. In the small town I grew up in, people actually thought it was safer to have a 9 yr old drive than to do it themselves. Granted, it probably was.
You have not seen an alcoholicoontil you have seen a Wisconsin alcoholic...

Funny. When I lived in Scranton, there were bars on every corner.

I'd say 85% of us walked to the bar.

That's the beauty of corner bars.
