It's obvious she's trying to drive a gigantic wedge between minorities and whites in the party.

My scorched earth policy, let me show you it.

If a Republican had said the same thing I would have called it dog whistle politics. She doesn't get let off the hook just because she is a Democrat.

Are we so hard up for a race war that we are baiting our candidates into it?

That must explain why Strom Thurmond became a Republican when the Democratic Party endorsed civil rights legislation, right?

True, but that was just a rest stop on the way to being the keystone of the Republican Party's "Solid South" strategy.

As an Obama supporter and certainly not a Hillary fan, I know what she meant, and while she mangled it and definitely could have phrased it better, I do not think she meant to say anything about Black people not being hard-working. If you listen to the audio she's "ahhh"ing and "ummm"ing every other word to the point where you know it was just a misstatement.

This is another distraction.

Suicidal Writer: Um, yes it is. The Democrat Party has been a party of racism since its inception.

Ummm... no. It was the Republicans who manufactured a crime crisis out of civil rights demonstrations and civil disobedience to scare white southern people into voting Republican. I won't deny there are racist Democrats - just look at Hillary's base and you'll find a few - but saying that it is a party value since inception is totally absurd.

perhaps that thought would have done better in a thread where Hillary didn't make comments about 'white america' being threatened....

Oh, and for the curious - DO NOT go to stormfront.org. Just wikipedia them for the skinny.

To be fair...what is considered Democrat today versus back then differ greatly. For a time, the now conceived ideals of the Democrats were the ideals of the Republicans.

We've had some distinct lines drawn.

Well yeah, Hillary's been playing the race card all along. It makes sense that as she's lost the Black vote she'd gain the racist vote. That doesn't mean "The Democrat Party has been a party of racism since its inception."

I still think that while she is obviously playing the race card here, she didn't mean it to come out the way it did. Listen to the audio itself, rather than reading the quote, and I think you'll agree with me.

True. But like so many other things in these campaigns, this gives the professional outrage industry something to be offended about for a few days, and so we'll hear about it constantly.

Smart people who rely on primary sources will know the context and delivery of the statement and dismiss it for the noise it is. But for the vast majority of people who get their information filtered through several layers of editorializing and spinning, this exposes Clinton as a festering racist.

Nothing new. The best we can do is use our votes, voices, and time to promote intelligent discussion where and when we can.

Is that a question? I wasn't aware that slaves had the ability or understanding for opinions. How can only 3/5ths of a person possiby understand likes or dislikes?

Sally knew only one way...the Jefferson Way.

Looks like they're using one of the themes from wordpress 2.5. I've never worked with that particular product, so I don't know how difficult it would be to set up and create a parody site. the domain name isn't registered (not yet anyways) so that would be easy enough to do.

So I'd have to register the domain name, find a copy of wordpress 2.5, figure out which theme they used (easy enough) and create a parody site with altered artwork (more difficult). then upload it to the new site and link it to fark for fun and profit.

hmm....I shall ponder this.

It has already gotten all the attention it needs to get. guaranteed and Dem that matters has heard it by now. Not to mention the intl. press who is treating this election like the greatest show on earth.

That comment insures not only has she lost the nom but any chances of being veep or getting her debts paid off by the Obama campaign are history.

That wouldn't have been difficult a few months ago. But she's sliding into irrelevance so quickly that I suspect most Obama people and moderate Republicans regard her with a mixture of apathy and gleeful disdain.

Maybe dig through the Farkives and just copy out some comments from Politics threads from January. You'll probably find some from me.
