That sounds about as classy as John Quincy Adams accusing Rachel Jackson of adultery in the election of 1828. It was believed by many at the time that the stress caused by the false personal attacks against Rachel caused her to suffer a heart attack and die in the month after Andrew Jackson was elected.

Or about as classy as... oh, you're still talking.

It was believed by many at the time that the stress caused by the false personal attacks against Rachel caused her to suffer a heart attack and die in the month after Andrew Jackson was elected.

Wait, you weren't setting up a Dennis Miller joke?

I dunno. Michelle Obama seems like the last person I'd want to go after. She's barely fair game since she's the wife of the candidate- but she's also smart and used to working her way in life. I can't imagine she'll take attacks lightly- Teresa Kerry certainly didn't.

Tastes Like Chicken [TotalFark] 2008-05-09 11:12:14 AM
Hilarious - so 15 years ago the Right Wing went after Hillary while Bill was running and when he was in office. Today she's powerful, if extremely annoying.

Between this election cycle, the war in Iraq, and the economy, I think the Republicans still haven't figured out the law of unintended consequences.

Well keep it up. The more you target people around Obama and not the man himself, the better it makes him look by comparison, and the more desperate it makes you look to keep him out.

The Rev. Wright thing is over. Done. GOP strategists have already conceded that they won't be able to use it effectively in the general election.

Just because Obama supporters say it's "over" and "done" and a "non-issue" doesn't mean you won't see it pop back up during the general election. The GOP hasn't even started its attacks yet, and I think everyone can agree with that. They've just sat back and let Hillary and Obama do their dirty work for them.

Everyone knows the GOP are the masters of attack ads such as this. They're the Michael Jordan of them (or the LeBron James, except the GOP tips more than spare change on a huge bill).

No, they're war heroes who were a pack of liars. Also, it's okay for Duke Cunningham to be corrupt because he was a war hero.

Everyone knows that Karl Rove is the master of modern politics. Doesn't change the fact that listening to him is why the Republicans are basically farked this election.

The Swift Boaters were not all heroes but they did smear the rep of a true war hero, say what you will about Kerry but he still earned a Silver Star and two other Purple Hearts that no has ever come forward to doubt that he deserved.

Michelle is Hillary 1992 with a better tan. She will just end up running for President in 2016 and pissing everyone off when she won't drop out of the primary even though the other candidate hasn't secured the required number of delegates to win.

Tallgordon: Michelle is completely charming. She's the new Jackie Kennedy.

Save that whole "never been proud of my country throughout my adult life" stuff

Michelle Obama is 44, which means that her adult life began around the time of Reagan's first inauguration.

Frankly, there hasn't been a great deal for this country to be proud of during that time.

Considering she was referring to the enthusiasm people were showing for a presidential candidate she believes in (who just so happens to be hittin' that), that comment makes a lot of sense. Similarly, I myself haven't been proud of America's political landscape at all until just recently.

/Why do I hate America?

importedbeer 2008-05-09 12:35:01 PM
Sure they can hit out on Michelle, but this time is different. Cindy does not fit the Laura"Bland Republican Wife" profile and comes with a huge bull's eye tagged on to her slender frame.

Cindy can be easily painted into a "home wrecker", a woman who "stands by a husband who calls her the C word", a rich woman who won't release her tax returns, and someone who couldn't even provide emotional support to her own adopted kid" (who was being tarred and feathered by Rove and his minions.)

Neither Cindy or Michelle fit the stereotypes that they are going to be made into. But this time retaliation is possible. If I were a Right Wing Attack Machine, I'd be very very careful.

And we have seen that Obama is virtually impervious to these attacks. The only way they could prevent him from practically walking in to the White House is to shoot him. Hillary has tried just about everything to take him out, and nothing has worked. McCain is just not charismatic, so he can't hope to fight Obama's fire with fire. Yeah, as soon as Clinton sits down and stfu, Obama has this election in the bag. But he can't let up. He has to just keep going, doing his thing, and everything will fall in place.

GOP strategists are supporting Obama now? I know you Hillary voters are convinced that her constantly pummeling him on every non-issue in this campaign and his still wooping her is a sign that he can't handle the Republican attack machine, but if the guys advising McCain are voting Obama now to I think it's about time you packed it up. The republicans have been attacking him ever since he became frontrunner, they just have nothing real to use and Hillary's been going at him even harder and consequently making everything they could have pulled out in the general totally played out. If she wasn't so clearly psychotic one could almost suspect she was campaigning FOR Obama. Bill probably is.

/don't actually know that you're voting Hillary
//it's just very similar to a lot of things her supporters say

I'm not proud of my country and I'm still serving it. There are a lot of people who serve this country but despise it's policies. So that whole damn argument is full of fail.

According to these ratings by a well-respected, non-partisan group that studies these sorts of things in a non-partisan way, Michelle Obama is the most liberal prospective first lady in the history of American politics since they started keeping track in 1492.

Yeah, it was pretty convenient that the recording that got passed around cut out when she said "really" before "proud." You have to be pretty dishonest to read it to say that she was never proud of America.

Is this not Michelle's full quote?:

"For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."

Ipso facto, this also means that during her adult life she has never been proud of her country.

I'm going to guess Michelle Obama. I'm also going to guess that she wrote that decades ago. The elite MSM is so predictable.

Our biggest problems include:

- the occupation in Iraq
- the falling dollar
- the rising debt
- illegal immigration
- et. al.,

...so what are endless news cycles spent on? The candidates wives' and associates opinions. Neither of which have any bearing on the real problems.

Oh wait...American Idol is on! K THX BY
