#1) Rush Limbaugh

Some jokes just write themselves.

The world needs right-wing bloggers.

Someone has to speak truth to power.

Those two sentences have absolutely nothing to do with each other. They're both correct, but completely unrelated.

That looks like the Klan's Christmas Card list.

No, right-wing bloggers function as speaking truth to counter the influence of various left-wing power bases.

This is why we can't have nice things.

I'm thinking that more than a few conservative bloggers have a tenuous grasp of conservative politics, reality.

I think I would shoot myself if a list of people that influenced me had Rush and Michelle Maglalang as #1 and #2. Good lord!

And Karl Marx has been dead a lot longer than that, yet his insane ideas are still influencing liberals all over the world.

OneBrightMonkey: That looks like the Klan's Christmas Card list.

And which party has a former Grand Wizard as a member?

Maybe "speak truth to" is slang for "gobble the knob of".

So it's the truth when it comes from the right, but it's propaganda when it comes from the left.

Spin is spin is spin. Conservative bloggers, just like liberal bloggers, push whatever message will get them enough pageviews to pay for the server. Plain and simple.

Now that I've actually RTFA, I was surprised St. Reagan's not only at spot #21 but was beat out by "New" Gingrich. Reagan actually did stuff, what's so influential about Newt?

I am not really surprised at the people who are championing this list here on Fark. I mean, it's mostly professional trolls. The trolls on the board need someone to look up to.

What's truly sad is that 4 of the top 7 could rightfully be categorized as merely "entertainers"

Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, and O'Reilly.

O'Reilly, along with Shepard Smith, is by far the least disgusting person on fox

and yes I include Colms

Well, thats what they like to be called when they interfere in actual politics, or when they say something potentially damaging to republicans.

that's quite a top 5. My blood pressure rose ten points just thinking about it. On a related note, I didn't realize Rush Limbaugh was still relevant to anybody, even to the most conservative of Republican wackjobs

Jonah Goldberg? WTF? He's the most intellectually dishonest hack on that list. At least Rush & Co. realize that they're entertainers, but Goldberg actually thinks that he makes sense. He's just a historical revisionist who tries to tie every mass murderer of the 20th century to the modern Democratic Party.

Bwahahaha what definition of 'conservative' are they using? Religious borrow-and-spend social hardliners?

If any self respecting conservative thinks that list is a good one, they need to rethink their philosophy. The top five are laughable. O'Reilly, Drudge, Goldberg, Ingraham, Bush, Beck, and Roberts? Really? In all fairness I think a liberal list would be just as full of fail.

Off by a bit as Reagan died in 2004. Unless we are talking about brain dead then it has been a bit more than 14 years. Somewhere around '85 or '86 when his most common comment because "What? I don't remember." in refernence to Iran-Contra.

There are about two of those names who would catch my eye if I were browing a list of editorials choosing which to read -- Will and Gingrich.

Hardly, as it would include Jesus Christ.

I bolded the ones that would be fun at a party. I am assuming Reagan would be alive for this one, or at least in a relatively mobile zombie state.

*entertainment. wink wink.

Except "liberal" in the rest of the world usually refers to either Economic Liberalism, which is more or less the antithesis to Marx's ideas, or to Liberal Democracy, which similarly has very little to do with Marxist ideals.

Conflating "Liberal" with "Socialist" and even "Marxist" is a phenomenon rarely seen outside the American Conservative right. Which is a bit ironic, given that some of the ideals and traditions they claim to be conservative about stem from the most liberal pieces of writing ever used as the foundation of a nation.
