6:3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

6:4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

Loosely translated it means "The Caucases are the F'ing Caucases", i.e. NOT Russia. Russian profanity in my CNN? It's more likely than you think.

Say what you want about George W. Bush's human rights record, or FDR, or Stalin, but General Sherman was a grade A sombiatch. My grandparents' grandparents were there to see war attrocities that were on par with the Russians having their fun after the fall of Berlin.

An old lady who babysitted(sp?) my maternal grandmother told stories about how she and her mother hid under the stairs of their home while union soldiers ransacked their home and stole everything they could carry away. Many white women and an even higher percentage of black women between the age of 12 and 70 were raped by union soldiers with general Sherman's approval or connivance. His behavior is a perfect illustration of how "human rights" are applied capriciously by whoever wins wars.

True. Like how we charged Japanese with war crimes for waterboarding while we're happy doing it ourselves.

Hey now, ease up there. That was WW2 waterboarding torture the Japanese did. These are new, modern, *coercive techniques* we're doing. Get with the program.

and...

There was never as much rapine and slaughter committed by Sherman's armies as the Southern apologists liked to claim. Not zero, but nothing like they claimed. Plenty of thievery and destruction, though. That was the point, right or wrong.

anyway, there's not going to be a war between Georgia and Russia, unless Georgians are retarded and like having their cities destroyed. So that takes care of that.

No one was happy during that war. I've heard horror stories from both sides. Suffice to say that is past us, now.

Yeah, I thought that was kind of funny when watching the History Channel special on Sherman's March. Several of the historians talked about interviewing people who had a "great grand pappy" who got his farm burnt down and all his livestock killed by Sherman's troops.

When the historians would show them on maps of the march that Sherman's troops didn't pass within 100 miles of "great grand pappy's" farm they would STILL insist its true, cause great grand pappy said so.

keloyd 2008-05-08 05:45:49 PM
Scanman61,

Looting Union soldiers weren't all part of Sherman's final march to the sea. Deserters and general thuggery by Northern outsiders was likely all mushed together and put onto Sherman. I don't have a problem with that. He can rot in hell, and if I ever find where he's buried when I am there and feel the call of nature, I'm pissing on his grave. He is Stalin without the good hair, and the History Channel was too easy on him, imho. If the cops have a problem with that, I will frame the ticket on my wall and have a really cool story to tell.

Some people are going to be angry for nothing because when they hear Russia invading Georgia, they think the Red Scare has invaded America.

Seriously, if I were in beauty pageant answering a question about why Americans can't find a country on the map, I would say, "Americans are ignorant because we've been the superpower for the last sixty years. We need to initiate geography into our social study classes for students." Instead of saying, "Some people just don't have maps and that we need Iraqi South Africans to teach us."

Bullshiat. Sherman is demonized by the South because he destroyed the illusion of southern martial manhood. And they will never forgive him for it.

//Atleast they have college football now.
///They had reporters back then. Yet mass rapes weren't reported. And lots of anti-Sherman articles were written.
