I seriously hope she's just waiting for one opportunity, just ONE chance to redeem herself gracefully in an attempt to restore some semblance of honor by waiting for the final count and saying simply "well, it is done, and I support our nominee, the people's nominee for the next president- Barack Obama."

Otherwise what else is there? Her performing some tearful podium dance to say that the rules were bended and her chance was taken from her? An angry Nixon-esque tirade that she will abandon politics completely? A third party Lieberman like clusterf*ck?

I wish I had a moped.

Let's face it- we as a voting public are stupid as f*ck. We have extremely short memories. Hell, people were cheering for Pat Buchanan's words that Hillary should quit. PAT BUCHANAN! Who gives a sh*t what Pat Buchanan or Newt Gingrich says about the Democratic primaries?! People forgot what they were like. Voters otherwise convinced that Obama was the person for the job could be convinced otherwise by the repetitive soundbites of other people with his name at the bottom of the screen. Some people hate Hillary Clinton because she's the wife of Bill Clinton, or worse yet because she's a woman. Not because she's a liar and a hypocrite.

We're morons!

And for morons, a single event after a long stretch of horrible f*ck ups can redeem a person.

There is and never was any honor in the Clintons. You were all duped by CNN.

I love it. As a goof, Huckabee should start campaigning again and talk about how "If the delegates just throw out the votes and pick me, I'll be the candidate! I still have a legitimate shot!"

Hell, I'd give her the Florida re-seating if she'd just STFU and realize she still had no chance. But you can't hand away Michigan when Edward and Obama weren't even on the ballot. She was literally the only major candidate on the ballot.

Hollyfeld 2008-05-08 04:31:18 PM
Does anyone know which superdelegate flipped today? CNN has her number down by one and Obama up by one. The superdelegate difference is now down to 8 (by the CNN count).

The new metric for deciding a candidate is miracles. If only Hillary hadn't already sold off that pesky soul.

I take pleasure in the fact that (according to CNN delegate math calculator) HRC needs to win the remaining primaries with 65% and get the support of 182 superdelegates in order to edge Obama out by 1 delegate.

Thirty Helens agree: Hillary Clinton should win the Democratic Party nomination.

Unfortunately for them, there's thirty-five "It's A Fact!" girls, and they're all supporting Obama.

So Hillary's camp has admitted that its IMPOSSIBLE for her to win the nomination unless super-delegates flip off their districts and vote for her?

Sure, and at 20 million a pop, it's a bargain over trying to reconstruct voting results.

From that thread...
"Wait does this mean he beat her by having seven more votes than her? I really don't know the voting lingo."

Yeah that voting lingo is hard, he got 7 more votes, so that means he beat her by having 7 more votes than her?

That was great! I have never seen anything like that. "HRC lost Guam by only 7 votes! That means she is gonna win the nomination for sure!"

If there were only some way to separate these idiots from their money in a systematic way... hmmm. Help me out here guys! Lets all get rich off of their stupidity.

I am so going to that site when she drops out of the race.

Only_A_Lad 2008-05-08 10:12:31 PM
Current polls show Clinton in the lead by about four points (This is an average; different national polls show different things). I can kind of see where the Clinton camp might be able to make a case for her nomination from that.

I mean, it seems rather odd for the party that (post-2000) briefly argued for the abolition of the Electoral College to be making decisions in the same way.

And in the same way that the Supreme Court decided 2000, the superdelegates will decide this nomination. The whole thing has brought the DNC's bullshiat nomination process to the forefront.

Don't get me wrong - I know that the GOP has (essentially) the same setup. But you'd expect something more egalitarian from the Democratic Party.

Obama will win this, and I'm glad he will. He's the better candidate with the better policies. But the nomination process needs to be seriously overhauled. I don't think delegate systems are bad - they allow smaller states to be heard - and I understand that senior party leadership should have more of a say in whom we nominate than Mr. Joe Democrat, but maybe the number of superdelegates should be reduced.

I don't know how to fix it; one has to balance two important things - democratic party operations against rewarding party leadership - and it's not immediately clear how the two should be balanced.
