Is that Hunter S. Thompson in the second chair?

My left wrist freezes up just watching him play that, especially the sul-G parts. He has big fat sausage fingers and still makes it look so effortless.

Itzhak Perlman is Jewish?

Note to self: check batteries in Jewdar.

He was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. Only on Fark.com would that matter.

//anyway, he plays beautifully...I don't give a damn where he was born.

Really? Really? Seriously, with a name like that you've got to suspect at least a trace of Red-Sea-pedestrianiam.

/Great find Subby.

In a non-Jew related post, did it occur to anyone else that what he is doing is the 19th century (1800's for the century challenged) version of the rock guitar solo?

/I want my Virtuoso Hero.

I like classical music and while I can admire Perlmans technique there has always been something about hit tone that bugs me.

Certain violins have this kind of flat, hollow sound that drives me crazy and his seems to have it bad. It's almost sounds like someone stuffed it full of packing peanuts. I want to like what he is playing but... ugh. I just can't get past those damn harmonics.

Hit tone? Should be "his tone".

/preview is my friend

I had the pleasure of hearing/seeing him live once, and his violin was incredible. It's as if it was five times louder than any other violin in the orchestra.
