The comments make me sad.

I think Youtube comments reflect the degeneration of our society as a whole.

If it was that, they wouldn't be as sad and pathetic as they are.

They (Jackson 5) where a very entrenched part of the vaudeville era, but then Micheal broke out and within a decade broke down.

Or, alternatively, they were made by a younger generation that was born 20 years after the song came out and knows no better.

Welcome to being an old fart!

Verbing Your Noun:

Yeah, that about sums it up.

panfried: i'm not really so sure you have a complete grasp of the history of Motown Records and of blues/gospel/soul. Vaudevile? Really dude?

Interesting. No ProTools effects or anything there, just kids who knew how to sing. I love those J5 records. Michael once said that Jermaine is his favorite singer. Saw them twice on the Victory Tour, it was a good show (except for the fact that I just turned 21 and they wouldn't sell beer because of their Jehovah's Witness thing). Strangest thing about the show wasn't Michael -- it's that somewhere in this world, there's a juggler who can say "yeah, I opened for the Jacksons at Dodger Stadium."

YouTube comments are proof of the failure of modern society to educate children.

No kidding. I saw them open for some hack in Keokuk before the big one--just prior to new fancy talk.

And play a couple of instruments, too.

Sure, if you haven't seen the video of the Jackson 5 performing "Dancing Machine" with W.C. Fields, Buster Keaton and Jack Benny, you're really missing out.

Their foray into silent film is totally missable though, if you ask me.

Whenever I see "u no" instead of "you know" I immediately prepare to deal with a total idiot.

I do that as soon as I wake up. That way when the inevitable happens it's less disappointing.

What a fantastic talent.

But to say Michael was not a freak as a 5 year old mulinational heartthrob/megastar is pretty dumb. Sure, he was normal compared to his current self, but Michael Jackson was NEVER normal.

He was screwed from the day he was conceived.
