The Ig is living proof that there is no point in doing drugs anymore. Between himself, Lou Reed, and Keith Richards, it's all been done. As someone famously said (new window), when one of 'em dies we'll have to roll 'em up and smoke him.

Best talk show answer ever:

Letterman: "So, Iggy, what have you been up to?"
Iggy Pop: "You know, the usual, sucking and licking."

I have never seen anyone as rattled as Dave was at that moment.

Shouldn't you be at your Womyns Studies class right now, or failing that going down on some other 250lb hairy broad in a flannel shirt?

not trying to get involved in a battle of the sexes here, but as someone who is tired of winehouse stories, it would be easier if we aloud both genders equal rights to abuse drugs to the point of destruction. That way we could see stories on Amy and say "awsome, she is doing enough drugs to kill herself" and not have to add all the garbage about her needing help.

Except Iggy got clean, and still looks good pushing 60. And he can still bring the house down.

Whereas Wino doesn't have the talent in her entire skank body that Iggy has in his pinky toenail.

Nobody, but nobody, puts it all out on stage like Iggy Pop.

/search and destroy

Wow... it's so weird to see him "dressed up" in dress pants and button up dress shirt... and glasses and gelled hair...
weird...
kinda nerdy.
but still F****ing cool!

he kinda looked like that McDonald guy w/ glasses from MadTV in a very slight way.

Truly awesome. What I love about Iggy is that he seems so dangerous and potentially terrifying, but he's always so polite in these interviews, even when he's clearly blasted out of his skull. The Dinah Shore one is great.

Mixolydian Master 2008-05-06 01:21:12 PM
I like how he asked the French interviewer to plase speak to him 'sehr langsam'

Sehr Langsam means 'very slow'

...in German

I totally remember watching that the first time it aired. That will always stand out as one of the most bizzare things I've ever seen. Wasn't he on PCP or something?

Having done a lot of "psychedelic" drugs, I can vouch for Crispin Glover being on acid... I can just tell by the way he's caught speechless a few times, and the way his eyes dart back and forth in near panic...

Which brings us to Iggy. Frankly on that video, he doesnt even seem that high, to be honest. That is the greatness of this Iggy Pop... He acts like that REGARDLESS of what s inside him

HappyHarryHardOn [TotalFark] 2008-05-06 07:37:12 PM
...and to add to my previous post, yeah.... Richard Pryor is on Coke... thats for farking sure

Thanks, I had never seen that vid, I was expecting a lot worse... no tremors or erritac movements... I presume that was not his advanced stage yet

Hey, any of you folks that caught him on tour recently, was Mike Watt playin' bass? Heard a rumor that he had joined the band, myth or what?

wow... he seemed really nervous and paranoid [high? mental illness?] in the first one...

and in the second one he started off normal ish, then seemed to get a little bit nervous a minute or two into it... talking fast/stammering...

what a weird guy anyway.

OMG... that "Clowny Clown Clown" song immediately shot me back in my memory to my favourite record shop about 5-10 years ago... it was on the soundsystem in the store... it was very weird and odd and kinda creepy... i didn't ask who it was... but it was just..... sooooo weird.

anyway, thanks for the flashback.
and now i know who it was.

Watt was with the band when they were on the Henry Rollins Show, so I'd say yeah. And what is it with Watt that, like every 5 years, he looks like a totally different person? Is he a Timelord?
