I am just not getting this whole reunion thing. Do they need the money? I hate to admit this, but I was a fan, went to 3 of their concerts, had all their stuff plastered on my wall. Got over it, moved on. Is there ANYBODY who wants to see them now??
Just curious

I was 8 to 11 when they were popular, putting me squarely in their target audience. I hated them then. And I'm guessing I'll still hate them now.

Why would you hate to admit that? You were obviously a kid when they were first famous, and they had some catchy kid-friendly tunes, so it's understandable that you might have liked them at some point. Don't be ashamed of it!

I do. I think it would be a blast. They don't look too bad, and honestly, I sort of like the song! If it weren't for the nostalgia factor I'd probably hate it. :)

Well, New Kids on the Block had a bunch of hits....

/Thinks it's fly when girls stop by for the summer
//"Summertime"? Seriously? The Gershwins and DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince weren't enough for you?

I like it too!

Well, I am sure that New Kids' fans must be their late 20s, early 30s: They're MILFs and Cougars!

I'm glad they got back together so I can continue my white-hot rage and hatred toward them as an adult.

Now only if Corey Hart would tour again the circle of plasmastic hellfire would be complete.

"Get Off My Lawn" is a song by "Stuttering" John Melendez, who is currently the announcer for Jay Leno. When he tried to get his music career going he put out a coupla albums. He had a good sound but the lyrics were mostly inane.

You're Standing there
Pissin on my lawn
I just can't bear
to see this shiat go on
The pressure's too intense
I've lost my sense of wanting you

(IIRC)

I still love New Kids. New Kids was my first non-classical concert and I remember them fondly.

Mrs_J 2008-05-05 06:39:54 PM
I have to admit that I like it. I was little too young to truly be fanatical about their stuff when it first came out but I had a neighbor that was obsessed. Like, NKOTB pillowcases, lunchbox, bedsheets, posters, nightgown, action figures kind of obsessed. It was ridiculous. I'm sure she's absolutely thrilled with the reunion.

Marshall Mathers is his name but the world knows him as Eminem.

Singing about girls in mini-skirts running on the beach when your in your late 30s is super creepy. Considering most of the girls running on the beach are teenagers or moms who should NOT be running around in mini-skirts, bikinis, or anything short of a burka.

Transpogue 2008-05-05 08:09:25 PM
Suck in that gut, Donnie.

Oh, the memories...they flood back like sulfuric acid.

/still debating whether or not to see this spectacle when they come to Chicago

I was 6 and my next door neighbor friend of the same age said "have you seen the new kids on the block?" to which I replied "no let's go meet them!"

True story. And I pride myself on the fact that once she explained they were a band and played a song for me, I didn't like it.

No thanks guys.

did you just lump Boyz II Men in with Backstreet Boyz...Nsync and NKOTB....you would have been better off going with New Edition.

Holy crap. That is one of the worst songs I have heard in a long time. And also, the mid/late 30's adult voice just doesn't cut it. RIP Old Kids....
