Using the Rules and Bylaws Committee to force the seating of two pro-Hillary delegations would provoke a massive outcry from Obama forces.

It would also forever alienate independant and third party voters and could easily implode the democratic party. Not to mention the fact that it would hand McCain the white house.

I don't know if Hillary has the balls to pull that sort of stunt. She might...but it would take a completely self absorbed twit with no ability to apreciate the consequences of their actions to even THINK about that sort of end game strategy. And Hillary, while amoral and ruthless, always has a fallback position.

This is why having primaries is a very very bad idea.

Christ. I'm now convinced that Hillary is going to make it impossible for the Dems to win. This after Bush the Lesser HANDED them the election over the last 3 years.

Dewmocratic leadership: Listen to me. The Clintons have farked your party repeatedly. Yes, I know it's traditional to listen to former presidents from the party, but usually former presidents haven't farked you. If you want to win the election, you will NOT put Hillary Clinton up for President. And you will ask her to step down NOW, or she'll make it impossible for your party to win at all.

I have always said those polls showing whose supporters would not vote for the other in the general election were idiotic - but I swear to Elvis, if this woman gets the nomination, I simply won't vote. No way can I vote for either her or McCain.

This "win at any cost" attitude is exactly what we do not need in the White House. We've had that for 8 years already and obviously it isn't working.

Or Ron Paul. If Hillary steals the nomination, everyone should go vote Ron Paul.

Think about it. it's a brilliant plan.

Yes, and if it comes to that, I'm voting for Jessica Rabbit. She's not evil, she's just drawn that way.

I agree. I can't in good conscience NOT vote, even in situations like this. This will be the undoing of the Democratic party for a loooong time if it plays at as horribly as I (and so many others) predict it will.

I've heard (and read) a lot of speculation about Hillary pulling a fast one and stealing the nomination from Obama. Some of it plausible, most not. And while I think Hillary is an arrogant, controlling, ruthlessly amoral biatch queen I don't know if she's crazy enough to run a scorched earth campaign against Obama. That's the sort of thing that ends your career (one way or another). And the Clintons are all about the fall back position. They always cover their asses and make sure that if something goes wrong they're going to have an escape route.

xtex: Considering how FUBAR'd the DNC is, maybe this would be a good thing.

If the Democrats go under, they'll take the RNC with them. both parties have restructured the machinery of governent so that it depends on input specifically from 'Republicans' and 'Democrats'. without both of those SPECIFIC parties, Congress doesn't work. A collapse of either major party would cause a power vaccum the likes of which hasn't been seen in this country in at least a century. *everything* would be vulnerable....and every lobbyist, special interest group, PAC and corporation would kill each other to grab as much control as they could.

This election was pretty much handed to them on a silver platter and this long drawn-out primary is absolutely killing them. Mathematically, Hill-dog cannot win without some serious shenanigans going down... and yet she won't step down and no one will pressure her to do so. The democrats could have nominated a pet rock and it would have won. But the longer this asinine process goes on the less likely Dems will win in the fall.

I absolutely love politics (in the sense that I am unashamed to be exceptionally liberal with regard to social policies and happily exercise my right to vote, go to jury duty, etc.), and I am so sick of this primary nonsense already I can only imagine what people not invested in their civic duties feel about the elections at this point. :(

She hasn't fought the battle of Stalingrad yet. She's close....I thought Pennsylvannia might be that final battle, but she squeaked by with a 9% 'win'. However, she's running out of elections and mathmatically speaking this fight is over. Obama has won. So why is Hillary staying in the race? that's the question that I can't answer.

bulldg4life [TotalFark] 2008-05-04 05:14:45 PM
I'm not sure if people are really surprised by this. The Clinton family is "democratic" because it was advantageous at the time and it continues to be advantageous in the drive for more power.

It's been proven that Hillary will say and do whatever it takes to win the nomination and she doesn't really care about the democratic party as a whole. She just wants to be president.

This is just step 2.

Step 1: Lose D nomination
Step 2: ????
Step 3: Profit

No, I don't think she's stupid. short sighted, narrow minded and arrogant but not stupid. She could have a plan (or THINK she has a plan) that will save her bacon. That might be why she's sticking to her guns.

She is not stupid. She is conniving, jealous, selfish, pandering, and by many accounts a terrible human being, but she is far from stupid.

she's out of date and behind on technology, that's certainly true enough. But that's not stupidity, that's arrogance. She just assumes that she doesn't need to worry about the internet to stay in the race. Which is, at least to date, proving to be correct. Despite all the fact checking floating around on the net (and not just here), Hillary still manages to trick voters into supporting her campaign. Not a very efficent means of campaigning but she's so far managed to stay just far enough ahead of the conseqences to avoid losing a big race.

Bingo. Even after the Bosnia thing she doesn't realize (same as McCain doesn't) that the stuff she says isn't strictly controlled by the media anymore.

That's the weird part; all the Hillary voters i know in real life are voting for three reasons; they don't like Obama, They like Obama but think he's unelectable, or they just want a candidate with a vagina.

Even her most strident supporters don't want her, they just see her as a means to an end - "the downfall of the Patriarchy", to quote Hillaryis44.

I almost hate to say it, but given recent election returns Hillary's strategy of ignoring internet fact checking seems to be working.

Look, she told that bosnia story and got caught red handed in a bald faced self serving propaganda story. it was (and still is) all over the 'net. But the news services only covered it for about a week, then let the story slide off the radar. By the time we got to Pennsylvannia everyone seemed to have forgotten that Hillary ACTUALLY believes she dodged sniper fire in Bosnia. She told a big lie and got away with it.

Harsh thing to realize, but there you go. Hillary is doing very well at lying to the stupid people and getting them to the polls on time.

Apparently not well enough, since she is still losing in every metric except for superdelegates (and she's lost a huge chunk of that lead and will continue to).

Smellvin 2008-05-04 05:51:05 PM
If she could single-handedly destroy the Dem party, she would probably make her way into the top ten American heroes. If she could also destroy the Rep party at the same time, I'd genuinely think her accomplishments greater than those of Jefferson.

Yeah, but remember - Hillary will claim ANYTHING as a victory. 1%, 5%, 9% - just so long as it wasn't an actual LOSS she'll claim victory. And even when she loses, she still says she won (cf. Texas).

And people believe her.
