All an official language does is mandate what language(s) the government is required to communicate in. It may also extend to signage in stores. But only to the degree that you must have English, not that you can't also have Spanish or Urdu or what have you alongside it.

If there was more focus on teaching English, fewer non-English speakers around, less catering to other languages, and so on maybe she would have received a better education.

Yeah, plus the stache, the bandana and the T-shirt that identifies him as a Flyover State resident. It all adds up to a great picture. "Offical" lady has some hideous white-trash clothes herself, but it just isn't as good a picture.

Actually, the opposite. Any self respecting Photoshopper would not scrunch up 'offical' so close to the 'America's' word. They would have centered it better, and made it match the other letters.

And if you zoom way into the picture, you will see the pixels in the text are consistent with the rest of the picture.

I'm a Canuck. We've got two. Most documents are available in a variety of other languages as well. Your government isn't "required" to communicate in any specific language, right now. It's choosing to communicate in other languages purely because it makes for less issues. That won't change with an official language law.

The US government could refuse to do anything in Spanish, right now. They don't, because it would alienate a significant portion of its citizens. That alienation wouldn't change with an official language, nor would said law in any way force Spanish-speakers to learn English.

I often wonder how Morans Guy feels about being an Internet meme: embarrassed, proud, or oblivious because he doesn't spend enough time online?

I can understand that people might have the opinion that this country should have an official language, and that it is reasonable for that language to be English. What I do not understand is how people become angry about this subject, it seems so monumentally unimportant that I just can't see how someone can be moved to angry protest. If you want to be mindlessly bigoted just pick immigration, that way you can at least say "they are taking my job" which is at least serious enough to have strong feelings about.

Especially hilarious when you consider "Urdu" isn't really a language - more like an attempt to or Islamize Hindi, and forcefully inject Islamic and Arab culture on India as though it has always been there naturally.
