Dairy cows rescued from ugly, pointless death in order to go on leading productive lives. I do not feel the pull of the Farkness in this article.

'Endangered' is always used in relation to animals, as though danger is something strange to animals.

FTA: If not milked, cows run the risk of developing an infection, which can block milk production or even kill the animal, Boonstopple said.

The more you know... we might be doing the cows a favor by exploiting them. And eating their children later.

Yeah. Moo. I'm with ya. Like cows have never been in danger of not being milked any time in their 20,000 year history.

Then no nappy headed hoes???

You've set the level of discourse in this place back about 50 months. Was that shiat ever funny?

Then PETA rightfully sets this cows free, so they can play with their friends the fox, dingo, and wolf.

You know, technically, the word "cows" should not exist, as the plural for cow is cattle, unless you are speaking of different breeds of cattle.

I'm in the Fredericton and cannot wait for the water levels to go back down. This isn't even that bad compared to what it was in 73' (or so I'm told). A hint to any of you Fredericton farkers, you must (supposedly) register with the Red Cross to get any compensation for the flood damages.

Well, the cows are only like that because of us. Tens of thousands of years of humans breeding the cows which got them the most milk has basically left us with a bunch of retarded, docile creatures which don't stop lactating. Most modern farm animals are a far cry from the wild originals; over a long, long time we've shaped them to fit our needs.

/and they say mucking with genetics is unnatural..
//also, their children are so tasty

all i gotta say is it sounds like the person driving the military boat has a fairly large set of cohonies ... gutsy move to save the ship of the cows :)

That's odd, beacuse the blood usually gets off at the second floor.

/your friends are smart

I am also in Fredericton. The flood was pretty bad. Fortunately I live a little further up town. Hopefully the water has begun to recede.

My dad was telling me about the the flood in '73 the other day. Apparently you could canoe right to the entrance of the university.

I was told by someone who lives near the farm this morning that the reason they were evacuated by boat was because the emergency team wouldn't let the (original) truck with the cows on it go across a bridge even though it was safe. Apparently (although I don't know first hand) the article is full of shiat.

I'm so glad to live on high ground (I live just outside Fredericton). Most of my friends have been evacuated though. Hope everyone stays safe!

Oh yeah, the cows. Good for them! :)

Why is this 'dumbass'? Should be 'hero'!

This was an awesome mission carried out by awesome men and women.

Ahh... Nothing like seeing Rt 18 in 10 feet of Raritan River washout. Did they save the glass-bottomed cow?

Likewise. I live just outside of Freddy, too, but I have a bunch of friends who had to evacuate.

I swear to God, though, if I see one more flood picture...

I live in the nearby province of Nova Scotia... these guys got a RIDICULOUS amount of water flooding the cities along the river; give these guys a break! Cows aren't cheap and I'm sure you'd want to save your income too if it was on the verge of floating away - and have someone give a helping hand. Common sense please?

Plastic Diver Guy 2008-05-05 08:27:01 AM
These are dairy cows subby, -1 for you. Go back to asking that scientician about the food chain.

SinisterDan 2008-05-05 09:03:14 AM
This would be more clear if it indicated that it was 140 cows worth of some farmer's money. That probably had a lot to do with it. I can't see them performing a daring barge rescue for 140 critters that don;t turn a profit.

...and it's a hell of a lot more humane than stranding them to drown...

/lives in New Brunswick
//used to live in Fredericton
///currently enjoys Cow.
