You'll never gain credibility at this rate. You're farking trash! I make art. You can't rate this.

Without criticism and interpretation, art would be void of meaning and value. What a dumbass.

FTFB: Yo, anybody that's not a fan; don't come to my show. For what?! To try and throw ya'll two cents in? Ya'll rated my album shiatty and now ya'll come to the show and give it a B+. What's a B+ mean? I'm an extremist. It's either pass or fail! A+ or F-! You know what, f*ck you and the whole f*cking staff!!! I know I shouldn't dignify this with a comment, but the reviewer threw a jab at all the artists. I just wanna know when was the last time you enjoyed yourself. If you can't have fun and lose yourself at this tour it's a good chance you're a very miserable person. I actually feel sorry for you guys. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore. Grab a drink, holla at some nice girls, and party biatch!! You don't know shiat about passion and art. You'll never gain credibility at this rate. You're f*cking trash! I make art. You can't rate this. I'm a real person. I'm not a pop star. I don't care about anything but making great art. Never come 2 one of my shows ever again, you're not invited and if you see me...BOW!! This is not pop, it's pop art!

Uh, OK.

1. I confess that I, too, would have a hard time determining the possessive plural for the contraction "y'all".

2. It's either pass or fail! A+ or F-!
OK. Then you get an F. Minus.

3. You know what, f*ck you and the whole f*cking staff!!!
You French kiss your mother with that mouth?

4. I know I shouldn't dignify this with a comment
The only lucid statement in the entire article.

5. Your job forces you to not have fun anymore.
I could agree with this -- if my job forced me to review pop music concerts, I'd be pretty miserable too.

6. Grab a drink
Or, "My show is much better if you're wasted".

7. I make art. ... I'm not a pop star.
At least he has a sense of humor.

8. Never come 2 one of my shows ever again, you're not invited and if you see me...BOW!!
He sure knows how 2 lay on the honey, yo.

Whiny, self-absorbed, mamma's baby snowflake whose sense of self-entitlement is far outweighed by his lack of anything that smacks of talent above and beyond the mediocre.

How's that?

I never thought I'd hear someone who wrote a rap song for Nextel being all upset about not being called art.

Maybe the A+s are reserved for those really amazing concerts, Kanye. Like Paul & Art in the park, Woodstock, and that time Soy Bomb came on stage with Bob Dylan

The first two things you are supposed to learn as an artist:

1. Critics serve a valuable function to help assist the public in making a market decision. Academic critics serve the function of disinterring themes, intertexuality, and overall sociocultural relations between art, artists and society.

2. You are never, NEVER, supposed to respond to critics. It is terribly unprofessional and in the end it makes you look all the worse. Critics are far closer to the average person than the creator will ever be. Saying "I create, and, therefore, I am better" to a critic is like saying it to the public. If you think you are so superior, then make you art and keep the shiat to yourself.

Translation: I'm still stuck in the "because I'm black, everything I say automatically has merit and is art; and because you're white, you automatically cannot understand the pain and victimization I express with my art. Furthermore, because I'm black and you're white, everything you say must be both condescending and patronizing because you're still stuck in the master/slave mentality which I am trying to overcome with my art. Hence, everything you say is wrong, and everything I say is right" mentality, even though I pretend I'm not. It's because I'm rich and black, and you whities can't stand that.

I have a friend I've known since I was 5 (I'm 22 now) that LOVES Kanye West. I've always avoided telling him I think West is one of the world's biggest douches. West keeps this up, eventually that conversation is going to come up, haha.

Veserius 2008-05-04 06:01:37 AM
What makes this worse is how humble(yet confident) and professional he used to come off as. He was all about for lack of a better term 'keeping it real' and he's become the arrogant, materialistic, prima donna that he used to be the antithesis of.

Problem is this, most people who are critics, suck. You think people would see the reviewer give a performance. Would any of you see a movie made by Roger Ebert? Or how about food critics, would you eat their cooking. Most critics specialize in one thing, writing.

I hate to say this, but I have to agree with Kanye on this one. Usually when a reviewer gives a questionable review, I look up other reviews they give. Here's the run down of Chris Willman reviews.

Queen Latifah...C+

Sean Kingston...B+

R. Kelly...C

Beyonce...B+

Janet Jackson...C+

Paul McCartney...A

R.E.M....A

Bruce Springsteen...A

Eleni Mandell...A (Who??? She sings jazz, so I thought, hey, he gave a black artist an A, cool. Nope, she's white, and he claims she is better than Norah Jones. So I just downloaded the CD. Um, no, not even close, and the reader reviews agree.)

Robyn...A (Who???)

Sheryl Crow...A

Majority of hardcore country artists, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, oddly enough, most of them got B+, like by default.

Disney DVDs...A

So here it is, am I really going to take the review of someone who obviously hates a certain kind of music serious. If I asked one of my friends, who loves rap, what he thought of a Waylon Jennings concert seriously? No, I'm not. I'm not going to say this guy is racist, but he has a preference that is different than mine, so should I take him serious, the answer is no.

I agree with you. This reviewer is an idiot for giving West a B+. He surely deserved much worse than that. How such a talentless hack can continue to pull the wool over critics' eyes for going on five years is beyond me.

You're a bit of an idiot. The guy's produced a dozen #1 hits, his albums are awesome, and he's made millions of dollars - how does a talentless hack pull that off? Whereas some (most?) mainstream artists are simply products of major record label marketing departments there are some with actual talent - Kanye West is one of the latter.

He does it with heavy production and some grunting over better lyrics aka Puff diddo (or whatever his name is today) He thrives on attention (see: Attention Whore) and is little more than a product. Period.

Remember, this is FARK, where bitter do-nothings make each other feel better about being bitter do-nothings.

If only FARKers were record executives, TV executives, and superdelegates...after all, they seem to be the authority on which TV shows are "cool" (in other words, mostly non-mainstream because mainstream is the devil!), which artists are cool (major negative points to anyone in Rap and R&B, as some white-bred Farkers simply cannnot and will not attempt to understand that music), and which political candidate is best. It's definitely a lot easier to call a successful millianaire a "no-talent hack" than to actually grow some cajones and try to accomplish something huge on your own. I've come to accept that this is the reality on Fark. Please don't stab me with your light sabers.

He's a dick, plain and simple. Didn't he throw a hissy fit a while back because he ddn't get an award? The most laughable part was all the dumbasses on his page that were giving him support and basically telling him that he's the greatest and he didn't deserve to be treated badly. grow the fark up! In a couple of years you're gonna be a has been. A nobody. Just like most every other rap "artist". Betcha michael jackson never thought the ride would end.

I would have to agree. Guy's got talent. Or flow, or whatever you young'uns call it these days.

But he's still a prime source of epic douchebaggery, though. It's not mututally exclusive, you know.

But I still can't decide who gets the Over Inflated Ego medal. Kanye or R 'I'm the Ali of today' Kelly.

Wow, this is the self entitled asshattery with which "our adolescents today" are growing up. Like you HAVE to love him or hate him. You have to worship the ground he walks on or be his enemy.

This kind of mentality is, quite literally, an enemy to society.

Whenever I hear about Kanye West, one image comes to mind.

In Aqua Teen Hunger Force, there's an episode where Meatwad is playing a game called Video Ouija. There's this little purple baby that cries all the time. "Waaah. Waaah. Waaah."

Well, anyway, whenever I hear about Kanye West, I see his face and hear that ghost baby's never ending electronic cry.
