The kids who sold their Ritalin were very popular when I was in college. Time to cut out the middleman.

Staff at the Model Pharmacy has no other choice but to sell prescription drugs on the sidewalk, thanks to a major structural failure inside the building.

Their service is probably still better than Walgreen's.

Does this mean that they can now physically coerce you into buying more product?

I dunno, CVS has pretty low standards. "Yo! How much 'dis. 'yknow, 'dis drug stuf... allergy, yeah, allergy, fo' Aetna?! It like.. twen-some-tin 'do?"

I now mail order all my allergy meds. *shudder*

What's funny is a Walgreens opened last week near me across the corner from an existing CVS. I already heard someone in the parking lot saying something about Walgreen service and CVS's to that effect.

Walgreens+CVS=same damn company. Same way that Hellmans mayo and Best Foods is the same.

Not every person working at any pharmacy is a registered pharmacologist so why aren't the cops harassing them for peddling drugs on the streets?
Just stop the war on drugs now and divert the money on combating stupidity, first target can be DC.

As a former pharmacy student who has worked in a pharmacy for about 5 years I can assure you that your pharmacist hates you and any demand or question you have about your medication.

Why? Are all of you guys suddenly Christian Scientists now or something?

I'm polite to public service employees, including my pharmacist, so why does he/she hate me?

...isn't that kind of your job though? You know, as far as I'm concerned, when you don't do your job, you get fired. So I'm guessing you're unemployed?

I had to click on your profile to make sure you weren't one of my best friends who was also a pharm tech for 5 years because you what you posted sounds almost exactly what he used to tell me.

Except his was more along the lines of people who'd biatch about it taking too long to get their pills. Which I never understood. I mean, if the person rushes through it and gives the wrong pills they might DIE.

Competition in the nonprescription drug market must be hell. I just bought a bottle of 100 aspirin tablets at the 7/11 for $1.39.

I heard a rumor that the cheap aspirin tablets sold at dollar stores, 7-11's etc all are made in China. Don't know if its true, but after reading about manufacturing standards in China, I pay extra for Bayer.

As for pharmacy's, I use an Apothecary on the other side of town. Inconvenient, but they are the nicest, most helpful people. When I need anything refilled, I just call, and its ready in a couple of hours. If I need a new Rx for something, they call my Doctor and take care of it. After my experiences in Rite Aids and other chain drug stores, the 52 block trip is a pleasure. What circle of hell do they find Rite Aid employees in? Plus, Rite Aids won't take my $2 dollar bills.

As a current pharmacy tech and former pharm student myself, I have to agree with your friend. People seem to think all they have to do is hand us their Rx, then we grab the correct bottle of pills and drop them in a bag to be sold. Also, the dumbasses who believe we control their insurance copays -
"$50.00 dollars for an antibiotic?!"
"Yes sir, that's your insurance copay."
"Give me my prescription, I'm going to Your Competitor!!"
"Ok, sure..."

It sucks like any other retail job, with the added joy of dealing with sick people and insurance companies.

I don't know about your city, but in mine they have been selling drugs on the sidewalk for years.

THIS. If you've got insurance coverage, why the fark are you going to a stupid chain pharmacy? Your copay is the same no matter where you go, so why not give your money to the little guy who not only actually appreciates your business, but won't make you wait two hours for your RX (so you can spend even more time shopping, numbnuts)?

I also worked as a CPhT and I can't tell you how many times people would come in with their farked-up mail-order prescriptions.

"This doesn't look like what they sent the last time, can you tell me what it is?" Nope. I have no idea what generic company they use. Call them and ask them what they sent you.

"Well, I tried that but they had me on hold for over an hour." Huh. I guess that's what happens when you've got two pharmacists on duty trying to fill 5,000 scripts a day. Mistakes are increased exponentially and the customer service is non-existent.

I work for Walgreens, and I'm rather frustrated at them. It was okay when I first started, because they actually had me in the pharmacy, even though I felt like the only technician that gave a crap about the patients. I swear, I had the best customer service skills out of any of the technicians there.

But now, after transferring to another store in another city, I'm lucky to work in pharmacy 4 days a month.

Yeah, I'm really using the certification I busted ass to get.

/why yes, I am bitter.
//quitting and moving to hospital pharmacy this summer

I'm also a pharmacy tech at Walgreens, and the patients there do suck. I don't know why they always think its our fault when THEIR insurance won't pay for the Viagra they want. Damn old people. That and they come during the busiest hours of the day and expect their script to be ready in less than 20 minutes. And yes the techs and pharmacists don't give a fark about you anymore than the cashiers at the front of the store.

And yes I am on Adderall right now.
