Yeah, but with the gaping wounds inflicted both are going to bleed to death anyway.

President McCain '08

Obama used a boy scout knife while Hillary used multiple rusty saw-toothed implements poisoned with toxins from her very venom sacs.

In my dreams Obama wins, Bush and his ilk go to jail for war crimes, and the constitution is upheld by the supreme court instead of shiat upon.

Nah you're cynical. There's an important difference. I'm not saying cynicism is always unwarranted it just tends to skew perceptions towards the pessimistic.

When I am trying to gauge how realistic my cynical perceptions are I always follow the money. The money is following Obama. The money is flowing to Obama over Clinton and Mccain for the same reason that the money is flowing to Amazon.com over Borders.

The internet has changed our culture in fundamental ways and this election is the first one to really reflect that. Will it make things better in the long run? Hard to say.

Anyone caught Obama's speeches the last couple of days? He's saying new things. Dude has turned a corner - his new material is pretty electrifying. I think he's gonna be fine down the stretch.

Talon: I just so happen to be a realist.

You're being a cynic. Do you think its impossible for Obama to win? If not, then work for it, or resign yourself to a cynical defeat.

A lot of dem voters *say* they will write in their favorite if he/she doesn't get the nom, but things will change by November. Most will fall in line and just vote for the party.

This isn't a bad thing. I want Obama, but I'm a realist, and if Clinton gets the nod she gets my vote.

No McCain. Not yours.

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 03:19:39 PM
With McCain making a new gaffe every single day, and this latest "we're fighting over oil" one actually getting some coverage from the media, my positive thinking has increased over the past couple of days.

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 03:23:19 PM
Obama and Clinton are Good Cop and Bad Cop. McCain is the chief of police. The voters are the ones who are going to get a beating.

This. John Kerry was my first presidential vote. I wanted Howard Dean, but we got Kerry.

Come to think of it, that might not be a great example. Still, he got 49% of the vote and I think Mrs. Clinton could do better against McCain, especially with the current Bush popularity ratings.

I haven't voted for a major party candidate since Perot ran. This time I'm planning on voting for Obama. If he doesn't get the nom, I'll probably find another third party candidate to vote for again. Hillary's voters will either vote Dem or stay home, Obama's voters could go anywhere.

I want to be ruled by Editorials!!

Because, God knows, the newspapers are infallible.

Barack, just say that you don't think it's a good idea. Your Kool Aid drinkers want to believe that you are intelligent, and you keep proving them wrong.

Mr. Mojo 2008-05-03 04:35:04 PM
I'm just wondering...did anyone expect them to say "hell no I'm not helping that (whatever expletive you want to add)"? Of course they'll band together.

I strongly favor Obama, but I'm voting on the "anyone but McCain" ticket, even though I like the guy. He's a good person for the most part (other than the whole name-calling thing), but he'd be bad for our country right now.

Does anyone else get the impression Clinton is going to try saying the same thing about NC that Obama said about PA? She's already pointing out the fact that she started out behind in the polls (and exaggerating how far behind she was) so I really do see her saying "you know, we started out way behind but we rallied to close the gap". Maybe she decided that NC does matter, even if she loses.

Richard Pye 2008-05-03 04:35:23 PM
"If Senator Obama is the nominee you'd better believe I'll work my heart out for him," Clinton said Friday, drawing cheers from a large pool of his supporters.

Here's hoping!

I see this as taking a principled stand. He knows this call is nothing more than a feel good measure to entice voters, and he isn't whoring himself out like that. I've seen many different reports describing a gas tax holiday as worse than useless, so he does have a basis for the decision.

Driving Without Pants 2008-05-03 04:56:00 PM
Folks, this kind of infighting ALWAYS happens in primaries, and people ALWAYS get over it. Once the nominee is decided, he or she (probably he) will look infinitely better than McCain and the Democrats will rally around the flag.

Ace Frehley's Ghost: Hillary's voters will either vote Dem or stay home, Obama's voters could go anywhere.

I think your are about half right here. Hillary's voters are older and have probably voted Dem their whole lives, and if Obama gets the nom they will vote for him because they are the type of people that will always vote for whoever has a D next to their name. Obama's base is made up of young people. Young people are more whiny and lazy, if they don't get their way they will just not vote. Personally I'm for Obama and if he doesn't get the nom I will vote third party just to show the Democrats we won't stand for any back room deals or shenanigans. They are used to low voter turnout, just not voting won't show them anything.

gundamtsubasa [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 05:10:02 PM
I said this like eight months ago and I still say it. If Hillary gets the nomination, I'm voting third party. I just wish that Obama's more rabid supporters would stop playing into Hillary and McCain's hands by doing heinous disgusting things in Obama's name and believing him to be able to walk on water. They're the reason Obama supporters have the stereotype of being just like a cult.

Remove all Republicans: Ace Frehley's Ghost: Hillary's voters will either vote Dem or stay home, Obama's voters could go anywhere.

THIS. My main concern is Obama getting the nom and then watching as the ballots are filled with independents and Republicans, costing the Democrats Congress.

Wha? How exactly do you make that particular leap?

Ace Frehley's Ghost 2008-05-03 05:35:02 PM
Remove all Republicans: Ace Frehley's Ghost: Wha? How exactly do you make that particular leap?

Hillary's winning the hard-line Democrats. Obama's winning the moderates, the Independents and some Republican cross-overs. If Hillary's on the ballot, the party will be pushing straight-line Democrats to vote who will ensure a Democratic Congress. If Obama's there, the party will have to push his base which will include those same independents that will be voting for some Republicans (or they wouldn't be independents).

Meh, I'm not particularly worried about that. Right now, aside from entrenched incumbents, most of the races are to replace Republicans who have retired/stepped down. I don't see a particular problem for the Dems in that scenario.

gundamtsubasa [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 05:37:12 PM
Remove all Republicans: President McCain, here we come. I mean, seriously, you Obama fans are pathetic.

Oh, get over yourself. I'm not pro-Obama, I am and always have been anti-Hillary because of the hard on she gets at the idea of censorship and her hawkish stance with regard to foreign policy. The past two elections I've voted Libertarian, so it's not like teh Democrats are losing my vote. Besides, I live in Texas, and because of the first-past-the-post aspect of the general presidential election (with the exception of Maine and Nebraska), my vote doesn't matter anyway.

Remove all Republicans: gundamtsubasa: If Hillary gets the nomination, I'm voting third party.

President McCain, here we come. I mean, seriously, you Obama fans are pathetic. When the two candidates are almost 95% the same, you guys say if your guy doesn't win, you'll vote the exact opposite views in McCain or throw it away. I'll readily admit that I think Hillary is the better candidate but I'm not stupid enough to think that Obama is some evil warlord trying to destroy the party. If he gets the nom, I'll support him in November. You guys do sound like it's just a cult of personality, not on their ideas at all.

I mean, you guys are the equivalent of the Huckabee nuts. They'll vote for him in the fall, this is just the same crap. I wish you guys would check yourself. The last thing I want is months of arguments about how many people are going to switch from Obama to McCain.

Poll after poll after poll after poll says Hillary supporters in greater numbers are saying they won't vote for Obama.

Well you know what? It really doesn't matter what they do. It is a much smaller group than the cross over independents and Repubs that are voting for Obama. Besides I don't take any of those polls very seriously regardless of whom they appear to favor. One college level class in statistics is enough to destroy whatever little faith you had in political opinion polls to start with.

I can tell you that all the Hillary supporters I know (I live in Cali) are planning to vote for Obama in the GE.

Same here, but I'm still voting third party on principle, regardless of who gets nominated.. The Democrats and Republicans have been nothing less than a cancer on America. I refuse to feed the sickness.

Bearing in mind I have an obvious bias in favor of Obama - exactly when did he stab her in the back again?

Aside from running a better campaign, of course.

Just flipping channels and you got CNN talking about how the race is now a "dead heat", FOX with a feature on Hilary just "girl talkin" and on MSNBC a "special report" about Wright (which has been on 3 times already today).

I cannot believe how blatantly they are trying to see that this thing drags out as long as possible. I am so fed up with all of them.

What knife did Obama stick in Hillary's back? It seems to me he's been hitting her with facts. I'm and Obama supporter, but I'm trying to remain objective; I realize I may have passed that point a while ago.

No shiat. That's why I don't watch. For a quick snapshot of the MSM I go to google news and use the image version. Just by seeing what pics they use I can tell which way the spin is going.
