Funny. When I was in South Korea years ago, I heard one of North's slogans are "let's produce more grain!" and this is still used till this day. The greatest irony is that North Korea has geared her industry for military-only policy even now and literally killed the farming industry.

North Koreans are starving because of their own government's stupidity.

North Korea fascinates me. From the eerie Ryugyong Hotel to the pristine roadways with no cars in them, it's so isolated that it gives me a sense of dread.

One of the most fascinating traveling experiences I have been able to find online is this. The entire site is a great read, but the visit to Mt. Myohyang is just priceless. The Great Leader keeps CNN coffee mugs and ashtrays encased in a museum if if they were great diplomatic gifts from the West. And his people believe this horseshiat, which is even scarier!

If that was a serious post, have fun. Went there in October, 2005 and had a blast. The word "weird" to describe the experience just can't do it justice. Assuming you'll be staying in the same hotel us other Americans did, try and convince one of your minders to take you to the post office to buy some stamps. (The designs on the stamps are propaganda at its best...)

Possibly millions of NK have starved to death. I'd bet if 20 million Americans had starved to death over the last decade (to be in proportion), you'd "believe" that Kim Jong Il was the first man on the moon if it got you a bread ration.
