I could definitely see that happening. Most personal ads on CR are fake and the pics have to come from somewhere.

I miss the 90s when the internet wasn't ruled by e-whores and you could actually meet real live humans.

Wow, could have swore I posted this on the one about sending food to starving nations. Okay, that's enough coffee for this morning.

Yeah right. That's like only 11% of people admit they picks their nose in private.

Long story short:
Met girl online (which I do often so it's not a goofy odd creepy thing to me) who said she was sdkitten13. after talking to her on the phone and such I became suspiscious that she wasn't who she said she was. A quick google of her phone number and D'OH! I find someone with the same basic info but WAY different pix known as sdsickgirl (she had posted her number online so a friend could get hold of her which then lead me to her REAL account.). Needless to say, I didn't drive to Vegas to meet her at the Social D show.

/met on yahoo
//found out the REST of the story on myspace

///suddenly after that BOTH accounts went PRIVATE. Odd...hrmmmm...

I met my girlfriend on Craigslist. A week or two of chatting to make sure I wasn't insane and vice versa. When we met it was in a small cafe and she told her friend that she'd call to make sure she wasn't kidnapped etc.

She initially told everyone we'd met at a coffee shop because she thought the idea was embarrassing. Of course since then we've come clean and since they've met her friends/parents there's no big issue (apparently I'm close enough to normal).

Occasionally when I make wrong turn driving she'll jokingly ask if I'm going to chop her up now. 4.5 months and still getting along great.

Having become single again this year, I admit to using CL personals as one of several avenues to meeting women.

Unfortunately, 99% of the Craigslist W4M personals are spam-bots.

When I clicked on this, an ad for a credit card popped up in another window. Awesome.

geetus 2008-05-03 11:37:31 AM
I actually found a girl I know whoring herself out on craigslist. The ad is probably still there...

lessee here...

aww... she must be taking a break or something. There was some funny stuff on there, though (I only looked through the 1st 2 pages).

"I am a classy gal who can fit comfortably in all settings. - w4m - 25 (Galleria)"

Then it shows a pic of her vagina.

Also found some hooker that has the same name as my brother. Forwarding link to all his friends.

/craigslist can be fun even if you're not looking for a glory hole

Bubonis 2008-05-03 11:43:42 AM
Depending on the definition of "using" I could believe this. If "using" equates to "posting a personal ad" then 9% is viable. Virtually all dating sites, particularly Craigslist, are populated almost exclusively by spammers and scammers.

Maybe she really means "who can fit comfortably in all settings insert three bottles of Schlitz in my hoo-ha". It's code.

You know all these polls where people say something yeah 'Yeah, only 9% ADMIT it'... does that mean more people actually support our asshole president but just won't admit it?

This. I admit playing around on Yahoo Personal and Adult Friend Finder. Never found one single person that I decided was real.

Yea I saw that a few weeks ago, CL in the Houston area is a joke, I don't think any of the woman there are woman at all, its just a front for spamming or whores, which is really the same.

I admit, I look on personals web pages, what other choice do I have really, with my job I don't really have any opportunity to meet people outside of work.

I know this is probably wrong, but I like to post bizarre personal ads to see what kind of responses I get. You know... SWF wants you to wear Dick Cheney mask... that type of thing.

I tend to get some interesting responses.

I met my husband on aol when we were in HS. We were on each others buddy lists all though college, emailed, and talked on the phone often, then after a few years I moved back to my hometown, we deceded to try dating and got married a year and a half later. When people ask how long we've known each other or where we met, it's hard to explain, but they'll get over it.

I'm kind of glad to see people admitting they've met their significant other online. Makes me feel less weird. I still don't tell people that I met my fiance through the internet, and we're getting married in a week. I think my parents know, but my friends don't, although I don't think they've ever asked...

I met my wife online in 1996! Online is no different than local once you know that the chemistry is there. In fact, it is much safer.

I think you will see less and less people "frowning" over online meets and greets as the days roll by.

MrSin666 2008-05-03 12:57:47 PM
Other than that one trainwreck, I've met a LOT of girls from the interwebs. Some smoking hot, some not.

I'm at work and bored so I'll tell another story.

Girl I had been talking to for months finally decides to come over one night. Shows up and she is Liv Tyler's long lost sister. We're talking "holy shiat my farking CHRIST" type of hot.Anyway, it was the whole "good to meet ya finally blah blah blah." We grabbed some grub, she let me drive her car, all was going great until....

...I realized I had absolutely no clue what her name was.

Since Constanza and I are practically twins in the "I have an idea" Dept., I think "well...things are going great, we're being honest and up front and all that, she'll take it all in stride when I tell her I can't recall her name"

Well...she didn't.

Literally walked out on me very...like HIROSHIMA...pissed off.

Later it finally hit me and her name was not Mulva.

/Sorry KRIS wherever you are.

I met my girlfriend on Match.com within 24 hours of signing up (I even canceled the subscription before I was charged, since she's the one).

It's the most satisfying relationship I've ever had, ever.

/wouldn't do other online personals, only match.com. They have a pretty good system going, if you're smart about it.

llewyrr [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 01:10:51 PM
This is why we need Fark personals. It'll be 90% men, all complaining about sharp knees.

Man On Pink Corner [TotalFark] 2008-05-03 01:15:09 PM
Let's just say that not all of the Craigslist W4M ads are bogus. Most of them are, but by no means all. I've answered a few of the real ones before, but I only found myself.

Meaning, if I actually were the sort who's into casual serial hookups with strange-but-not-unattractive women, it would've worked out just fine. Instead, my experiences on Craigslist only led me to understand why I'm not into that sort of thing in the offline world.

/At this point, you have to wonder if I'm gay. So did I, driving home from a couple of those "encounters."
//No, I'm not gay... just not that brave.

MrSin666: ...I realized I had absolutely no clue what her name was.

You still don't. I once got three different names from one (extremely-hot) girl before our first (and only) date was over.
