I actually RTFA because that headline gave me a headache. Thanks for the translation subby.

Is this really English or merely a by-product of too many drugs?

I think it's an outtake from The Knack and How To Get It.

Top hole. Bally Jerry pranged his kite right in the how's your father. Hairy blighter, dicky-birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught his can in the Bertie.

How long has it been since Oasis was even remotely relevant? Talk about residing in the "where are they now?" file....

Who was it that noted that the U.S and the U.K. are two nations separated by a common language?

As my mere presence on Fark.com would indicate, I'm not smart enough to understand any of that conversation.

Ok, wait a second. Liam was looking for a business owner, who he mistook as Robert Plant. Right, and Robert Plant assumed that when Liam walked into the dressing room, he was looking for the bathroom, which was the next door down on the left, and assumed he didn't know he was in the wrong room, because it was dark, because he never switched the light on.

That's it, right?

Their presence in the North American scene has been less, but in the UK they are still the biggest rock band going. Both in sales and public interest.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/5037792.stm

Hence, they're releasing album #8 this year.

Sheet! In 10 years Oasis will be some kind of internet phenomenon and I will have to hear that swill again? Somehow I don't think the Gallagher boys will be as jovial as Astley about such a thing!

except Astley is still technically, albeit in a very loose way, relevant now.

I'm honestly not even sure if Oasis is still relevant in England. I know they have one of the best selling albums there, but shiat, even we make fun of Michael Jackson.

And they wouldnt get recognized over here, so what? I bet they could travel most of the world and go unnoticed.

Oasis is over rated.

We ignore michael over here mostly except for his remaining few fanatical fans, his albums dont sell for shiat.

Now, yes. In 1998, no.

Who knows, maybe in 2018 an ironic appreciation of Oasis as a comedy item will be just the thing to tease our jaded appetites.

Nobody can understand what the British are saying. Did they invent English? Did the Americans just mangle it? Ugh.
I'd love to get a Brit, Texan, an Irishman, an Aussie all together in the same room and hear them all speak "English" together.

Nope, calling someone 'the business' is a high accolade similar to 'dog's bollocks'.

He was being reverential.

Percy OTOH was being irritable, quite rightly, as the Gallagher clowns are notoriously dull and coked up, they probably smell of crass cologne and have terminal halitosis.

/ex-Brit - speaking all manner of malarkey guv.

Christ, Americans really embarrass themselves when they step outside of their limited dialect. Stop trying, you look retarded, even Russians cringe. There is a reason that South Africans don't take the piss out of English English, they realise that the noun has a proper meaning.

/Gavino, CEO, Campaign for Ulcerated shiathole of America to create it's own language before it goes down the toilet and takes my language with it.

Actually Oasis has made some pretty good albums, and has even evolved as a band. Us Americans have been too bloated on Timberlake, American Idol and Youtube to admit that something that was cool in the 90s might even still be cool today.

I would suggest Heathen Chemistry. Great album. Period.

to be the most easily understood English dialect and the preferred form when
teaching English as a second language.

I grew up in SE Iowa, thus knew NE Missouri, then moved to Oregon, and with the exceptions of sack, co-op, elevator, help, on accident, brights, love on, shoes, Ozarks, grip, peckerwood, second-growth, spendy, till, and Freddy's the rest is BS.

Of those in italics, only sack, co-op, elevator, brights, shoes, Ozarks, and till are actually used regularly.

Help is a rarity, on accident and love on are education dependent/used as intentional regionalisms, shoes is nationwide, Ozarks is what the place is called, grip is rare and used as an intentional regionalism, peckerwood is a reference to a friend in jail, second-growth is self-evident, spendy is outdated, till is understood with no problem on the East Coast, and Freddy's is actually called Fred's.

Andyr2120: How long has it been since Oasis was even remotely relevant? Talk about residing in the "where are they now?" file....

Relevant to who? Farkers' obsession with 'relevance' grinds my gears. Oasis are certainly still relevant to me and the other 4 million people or so who bought their last album. They're still on the covers of music magazines and doing well in 'best album of all time' polls, so something tells me if anyone's not relevant, it's yourself.

/looking forward to the new album
//just got new Portishead today, looking forward to that too

So, it's not just an American thing to like absolute crap.

Do What Now Question Mark 2008-05-03 07:29:48 AM
Gallagher was looking for an argument, but accidentally stepped into abuse.

Q: WHAT DO YOU WANT?
M: Well, I was told outside that...
Q: Don't give me that, you snotty-faced heap of parrot droppings!
M: What?
Q: Shut your festering gob, you tit! Your type really makes me puke, you vacuous, coffee-nosed, maloderous, pervert!!!
M: Look, I CAME HERE FOR AN ARGUMENT, I'm not going to just stand...!!
Q: OH, oh I'm sorry, but this is abuse.
M: Oh, I see, well, that explains it.
Q: Ah yes, you want room 12A, Just along the corridor.
M: Oh, Thank you very much. Sorry.
Q: Not at all.
M: Thank You.

Wonderwall I can take.

It's freaking "Champagne Supernova" that makes me want to drown a bag of kittens.

Is there something really deep I'm missing here or is this just a really sad attempt at conveying a drug-induced dissociation?

Even Noel laughs at his lyrics, so you're not really onto anything new. Personally, when I'm writing, if a line makes me laugh, but slots right in with whatever else it is I'm writing, I keep it.

Oasis and Zepp have some history. Oasis slammed Zepp publicly for selling out (Caddy commercials). Then, within weeks - Oasis themselves were doing the AT&T commercials.
