Article, in its entirety:

RALEIGH, N.C., May 2 (UPI) -- Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has been avoiding stops in black communities in his quest to become the first black major party nominee for the U.S. presidency.

Isaac Onah, a political science professor at the University of North Carolina, told the Boston Globe that black voters appear to understand Obama's campaign strategy. They also understand why Obama had to repudiate his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Onah said.

"I think black voters are saying to themselves, 'Why isn't Rev. Wright shutting up?'" Onah said.

Obama hopes for a strong victory in North Carolina, similar to the one he got in South Carolina, the report said. In South Carolina, 80 percent of blacks voted for Obama in the Democratic primary, helping him trounce Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y.

Darryl Carson, a 41-year-old industrial clerk, told the Globe he sees Obama "walking a thin line." He believes other black voters in North Carolina will be there for Obama where it matters, in the voting booth, the newspaper said.

One assertion, backed up with no evidence, nor of a citation to a study or analysis that supports it.

Interesting.

I would say he's more like white middle class voters then either of the other two candidates...

he still stops into black neighborhoods when he's craving some chitlins.

burndtdan: he still stops into black neighborhoods when he's craving some chitlins.

I used to live upstairs from a woman who cooked chitlins every weekend...she was a black lady from NC and her husband was a white guy from IL. He used to come up to my apartment to escape the smell of the chitlins cooking.

I used to tell him I'd be happy to whip him up a spam sandwich on white bread with mayonnaise to help ease his trauma...

What, precisely, is a "black community"?

I mean, every time Obama's been around here in NC, he certainly has avoided black neighborhoods... primarily because he's busy speaking in packed auditoriums.

I'm guessing that the UPI's 100 years of "Excellence in Journalism" are not consecutive.

Candidate doesn't visit communities where his support is already assured. Instead he spends his time trying to court voters who are undecided or support his opponent.

Media Interpretation: He's avoiding black neighborhoods!

Yeah. One of the things I really hate about MSM is how they spin shiat like that. The editorial staff is probably filled with Billary supporters.

Is this supposed to be satire? From the headline (Report: Obama avoids black neighborhoods, as if it's breaking news from confidential sources or something) to the lack of content, this is pretty pisspoor.

Give it a couple weeks and this story based on nothing will become fact for anyone that can't look or think beyond a headline or sound bite. Pathetic.

Subby can DIAF... "he" didn't assert anything. Some asshat made the leap of logic that since Obama is not campaigning in places he is already popular in (i.e. black neighborhoods), that Obama is "avoiding" the neighborhoods... inferring that he is scared of Black people, or something.

If you want to use the same logic, then Hillary is "avoiding" upper-middle-class white neighborhoods, because she'd rather sip whiskey with blue collar types. Hmmm, is she afraid of being chased down and robbed by pasty WHITE suburbanites, so she's "avoiding" those areas? YOU DECIDE!

Typical spin garbage.

If
he's avoiding the black neghborhoods, it's simply because he knows he will win there, so he's focusing his efforts where they'll make a difference.

No, the MSM is just choked with morons. Listening to the news events themselves on C-SPAN, and then reading the MSM reporting done on them will clue you in on this very quickly. On average they have a little leftist bias, sure, but it's slight and IMHO overshadowed *greatly* by their much more pronounced and common incompetence.

Basically I mean they're WAY more stupid more than they are biased, so don't worry about the bias. Worry about the stupid.

Quick question. Why is every mixed race person considered black?

Tiger Woods for example. He's 1/4 black, 1/2 Thai, 1/4 white. He isn't Asian though. He's black and his name is Tiger Woods. Cobra Jade is an Asian Trannie on 5th street but Tiger Woods is a black dude?

Just curious.
