Guess he doesn't get to be a big Rockstar
Since he won't be driving his 15 cars.

Don't drink and drive kids. I'm in my third (and final) year of a revoked license for DUI (2nd Charge.) But I am definitely NOT bitter about it.

I could care less about my license. I'm happy I didn't hurt or kill anyone. Seriously.

Interesting side point (seeing as how this is in Canada): Both of my charges were reduced (Negligent and reckless, respectively.) If I had been convicted of DUI, I couldn't go to Canada without written permission from th PM's office for ten years. Being as I live in WA, and BC kicks ass for so many reasons, that would have sucked way worse than just losing my license/treatment/fines/work crew. My BAC was dropped on my second case. There was even a fark thread about Seattle City Councilwoman Janet Hague having hers thrown out of evidence by the same judge. My conviction was based on the fact that I completed the arrest interrogation honestly and signed it. I'm not so sure about Canada, but if Kroeger did the same here, his breath test wouldn't matter.

And also, even with current exchange rates, his fine is about half of my first case's. So, IMHO, he should STFU, suck it up, and not get behind the wheel if he's been drinking.

/end rant

BTW, I should add my own reasoning for being stupid enough to drink and drive a second time.

On my first offense, my license was only suspended 90 days. That didn't even cover the court process timeline. I could drive everywhere I needed to go after I was sentenced. I was 21, and stupid, I barely blew over the limit (.089) and thought I had gotten away with it.

PLEASE BELIEVE that I'm always one of the first to hide my buddies' keys now.

Be careful. Alcohol can make smart people do some very stupid things like get behind the wheel.

Believe it or not, I'm in Mensa as well, but I don't have to be to the gym anytime soon... (I can barely curl 40lbs 1 rep)

I never understood this. If I'm some famous musician or actor, with tons of money, I would just hire a designated driver. Give some guy 2 grand for the night, no risk of injuring or killing anyone, no DUI, you're being responsible, you can show the tabloids that you're being responsible...It just doesn't make sense to me how these celebrities go driving drunk.

/Celebrities, I am willing to offer my services!

This is how you remind me ... not to drink and drive, dumbass.

Now he and Carlos Santana can write another shiatty song together.

Most washed up rockers have to wait 20 years to play state fairs, this guy could start today.

man, Hootie and the Blowfish were playing the Puyallup fair all of 5 years after their One Big Album. How on earth is Nickleback still popular.

Just wanted to mention I thought the headline was great, he does look like a sheepdog.

article, submitted, better headline, blah blah blah

/Nickelback singer fined for being Nickelback singer (dumbass tag)
//subtlety is lost on you, Pinky

SmilingPenguin 2008-05-02 12:43:06 PM
Can we get a ban on him singing?

Chad Kroeger from Nickelback fined for Driving Under the Influence of another song he wrote 3 years ago.

Katastrfee 2008-05-02 01:05:12 PM
Tell you what Chad.

You can drive again, but you can't sing or play guitar, or tour, or write anything for the same year.

deal?

Cinletharwi 2008-05-02 01:24:15 PM
Another vote for giving him back driving privileges on the condition that he never sing again. It's sickening that they get away with being "rock stars" for releasing song after song after song that are all 98% identical in sound. A "formula" band should not last this long. It's an abomination to music, much like most everything else on the radio today.

FeedTheCollapse 2008-05-02 02:17:15 PM
I'm willing to bet Nickelback are one of those bands who listen to nothing but their own shiat when they rock out. Even Limp Bizkit probably didn't listen to themselves.

Loud_Mouth_Soup 2008-05-02 02:56:41 PM
I would gladly give him his license back in exchange for him accepting the death penalty.

/it's fair

Do the Puyallup?

Man, I live in BC so we have exposure to cross-border TV and I gotta say, "Puyallup" sounds like a word you'd form vomiting or something. :)

That being said, we don't have any entertaining fairs up here, except the PNE which is pretty craptacular.
