Yup.

She sounds like a retard when she talks and she sounds like a retard when she sings - what you can hear of it anyway after the studio did all they could to force her monotonous voice into the background of instrumentals and grinding sound effects.

In her defence, she made an album of Tom Waits covers. How good could it have possibly been?

I don't know whether SJ herself wrote these lyrics (probably not) but I just read them and I want to scrape my brain out of my head with a coathanger.

I have come 500 miles
Just to see a halo
Come from St. Petersburg
Scarlett and me
Well I open my eyes
I was blind as can be
When you give a man luck
He must fall in the sea
And she wants you
To steal and get caught
For she loves you
For all that you are not
When you're
Falling down, falling down
When you're falling down
Falling down, falling down

You forget all the roses
Don't come around on Sunday
She's not gonna choose you
For standing so tall
Go on and take a swig
Of that poison and like it
And don't ask
For silverware
Don't ask for nothing
Go on and put your ear
To the ground
You know you will be
Hearing that sound
Falling down
You're falling down
Falling down, falling down
Falling down, falling down

When you're falling down
Falling down, falling down

Go on down and see
That wrecking ball
Come swinging on along
Everyone knew
That hotel was a goner
They broke all the windows
They took all the door knobs
And they hauled it away
In a couple of days
Now someone yell timber
And take off your hat
It's a lot smaller down
Here on the ground
You're falling down
Falling down, falling down
Falling down, falling down
Falling down

Someone's falling down
Falling down, falling down
Falling down, falling down
Falling down

When it gets near a melody, let me know.

/Sad to hear what she's doing to Tom Waits' masterpieces.

I really hate this current trend of trying to make every celebrity into a TV/Movie/Music star. Very few people have the ability to sing, act, and look good doing it.

Yeah, I didn't notice that. I just clicked the link and watched the video then looked up the lyrics. I didn't think anyone made first albums that were entirely covers, but that's me corrected.

Still, the lyrics are pretty godawful.

Having heard her sing a little on SNL, I thought it might be good.

I was wrong. Very, very wrong.

Typical of Ol' Tom. I love him, but some of his lyrics are awful in anyone's hands but his.

Scarlett Johansson's 'Falling Down' music video has finally dropped.

Lets hope her boobs never do.

Suicidal Writer 2008-04-30 08:23:05 AM

She's an atheist.

Scarlett Johansson says she doesn't believe in monogamy - that people weren't meant to be with just one person. But she also says she wouldn't date her "Match Point" co-star Jonathan Rhys-Meyers - because he's too much like a girl.

"I don't think human beings are monogamous creatures by nature," she told reporters while promoting the flick. Still, Johansson says, she hasn't given up on the idea of getting hitched one day. "When I decide I want to have children with somebody I think it would be nice to be married to that person," Johansson says.

Johansson doesn't believe in monogamy (new window)

Ya know, when she's in an intimate relation like that, she can ditch the formal titles and use my first name. I won't hold it against her.

Anyone who doesn't have their music video directed by Keith Schofield is an idiot... especially if she's going to cover someone as bizarre as Tom Waits.

It wasn't bad at all. A little draggy but overall, fairly listenable. I think shes getting a lot more of a critical panning than some random nobody who could have done the same, cause shes already an established actress.

Well... I gave it a listen. First time through I was put off by it because I didn't like the idea of it. After I got over myself I gave it another listen and have to admit that she's got a little something to her. Sort of reminded me of Nico.

I'm not sure why I cared enough to post, possibly because I'm assuming that she'll suffer great embarrassment from this awkward affair. Yet with Tom Waits cheering her on, I can't feel too bad for her.

/not buying the album

My god, what a steaming pile of shiat that was. Who tells these dolts that they can sing? Who? Managers, Agents? Who. They should be stabbed with a rusty butter knife repeatedly.

Not that I don't think she's gorgeous, but what the hell is up with her boobs in that picture? They look very strange there, mashed up to within an inch of her collar bone. She's got great breasts, it's a shame to screw them up like that.

Holy cow, this girl has really been encouraged for all the wrong reasons. Her voice is awful. Not even quirky awful.

Ten bonus points for Neko's "Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis" and I'll never listen to one of those foul Scarlett songs again. Ick.

See, what I don't understand is that Scarlett can actually sing well. Her cover of "Summertime" was pretty decent, and her voice was soft, sweet, and sounded nothing like this. I guess she's emulating Tom Waits, who, while a great artist, is not much of a singer. Sad, because the girl's got pipes. And boobs.

I didn't hear any auto tuning in there. She actually is capable of singing.

I didn't really see anything wrong with the song. Not my cup of tea, but it wasn't horrible.

The couple of songs I heard have been pretty good and I think overall the album was well received by the critical press. Which proves that you can be an actress and still put out a decent album.

Yeah, in Hollywood of old, you had to be able to sing and dance to be a hollywood star. It might be nice if that came back.

superoogie 2008-04-30 11:14:50 AM
Are people actually talking about how well she sings? Just mute the video.
