Supposedly Jimi's manager Mike Jeffery armed all three members of the Experience with 8mm cameras during a 1968 tour, with hopes that useful footage could be used to make some kind of Hendrix based movie or promotional video. Some of the 8mm footage can be seen on the Electric Ladyland episode of 'Classic Albums' that airs occasionally on VH1.

There were always rumors swirling around that Noel Redding had been using his camera to film some of his and Jimi's exploits with women. Noel was always amazed at the rock-star levels of poon available to him during his years with the Experience, but after Jimi's death, he and Mitch Mitchell were shut out in every way, especially financially, and Noel fell on very hard times economically - he had investments in his own band Fat Mattress that began to fall apart after quitting the Experience in 1969. Throughout the 70s and 80s, Noel sold everything he could to keep afloat, and Hendrix memoribilia was actually not that popular back then.

It's very likely that Noel sold his 8mm tapes to collectors as well, and that this is the source. Some vey 8mm-like footage purported to be Hendrix giving head to some groupies has been passed around online for a few years now, but lots of folks deemed it fake, because it just doesn't look like Jimi. I'd like to see if this is the same or similar footage, and how they 'debunked' it.
