Great tune, gotta love the '70s walking octaves bass line.

Best part is the stone-faced white audience, going "get on the floor? Boogie oogie woogie? I'm sorry my dears but my ass is so rigid it makes Pat Robertson look like a meth-crazed male stipper."

I went to college with the brother of one of those girls and I never did figure out which one. I only know this because the dude used to wear this semi-badass black satin Capitol Records jacket around campus, and I asked him about it one day in the dorm elevator. Our conversation went like this:

Me: oh yeah, I remember that song. It was... pretty good.
Him: ... yeah.
Me: so that was your sister, huh?
Him: ... yeah.
Me: ...........................

But at least it put me Two Degrees from A Taste Of Honey. If I ever meet Kevin Bacon, or his brother in an elevator, I'll ask him if they can beat that.

Boogie Oogie Oogie is good harmless fun, but funk it is not, not much. Subby needs some Slave.

They were a guilty pleasure of mine back in the 70's when this song came out. I always liked the fact that they played their own instruments. They had other songs that were a lot better than this cut as well.

I agree they really aren't funk. More like funk flavored soul.

Best version EVER is by the vampire choir boys from Lucy, Daughter of the Devil.

Grammy for Best New Artist in 1979, beating both The Cars and Elvis Costello. Milli Vanilli was not just a fluke.

The Grammys have always been run by morans, and they still are. Why else would Amy Winehouse be nominated for anything?
