As much as I'd like to clown on Coldplay for being too emo, etc. I have to admit they have some really good songs and the Parachutes album is amazing.

But I wouldn't waste my time watching them live. I like to be entertained at a show, not put to sleep.

the only problem that i have with coldplay is that they are boring. they have never tried to challenge their fans with anything more than the same overly-accessible sound that they've recycled for every album. consequently, that is a winning formula that has made a lot of bands very rich, but it is still a valid reason not to like a band.
that said, i would still probably go to a free coldplay concert because it would be a cheap date that would probably convince my girlfriend to play with my junk a bit.

I can honestly say I wouldn't go if they paid me $50. They are a shiatty cover band of U2, basically.
