Well, it's a good thing they didn't hook him up to a copy machine.

Chuck Wagon 2008-04-27 10:06:32 AM
So he is suing the police officers for $2 million and not the city? Even if he wins there is no chance of him getting anywhere near that much money.

Marcus Aurelius [TotalFark] 2008-04-27 10:18:19 AM
At least they didn't shoot him. These days, that's saying something.

Chuck Wagon: So he is suing the police officers for $2 million and not the city? Even if he wins there is no chance of him getting anywhere near that much money.

TFA: He is asking for $2 million in a civil lawsuit against the two men.

Looks like he's just suing the two officers. He'll be lucky to get a few thousand dollars and a coupon for a free Big Mac.

A lampshade in a police department? I thought only the worst kind of fluorescent lighting was permitted in any PD.

I hate to admit it, but I snorted when I visualized this happening.

FTFA: "I'm asking for $2 million tax free in my pocket and my insurance paid for the rest of my life,"

Insurance paid for life? Now you're just being greedy.

I usually am the first person to condemn the police, but that is farking hilarious. I wonder if they just came up with this idea right on the spot. Also, I am assuming that he didn't realize there was anything wrong with this until he explained to someone what happened. That being said, I bet he answered every question they asked honestly.

Instead of settling the case in court why don't the police officers just give him 2 novelty $1 million dollar bills. Until he went to a store or bank he probably wouldn't know the difference.

Peterson and Thames were suspended and both eventually left the department.

In normal speak = they went to work for another police force. Seriously, cops do it all the time, and other police forces don't ask too much questions, it's like the church moving molestors around.

I agree. I mean, of course they aren't going to have the money, but what the hell? The guy reports a crime about his daughter being attacked by her boyfriend and they do that shiat to him? Why didn't they end up in jail for assault?

Cops can easily get $100k a year with a little overtime. If he wins a judgement, can get quite a lot of money back if wages are garnished.

Here is why.

FTA: A federal judge ruled a few years ago that the city could not be held accountable for the officers? actions because there was not a documented "pattern or history of abuse." Granger was left to sue the officers individually.

Protect your own.

Like Public Schools do with teachers/workers who molest children. Happened in Wisconsin. School makes agreement with substitute teacher to not talk about the molestation if he resigns. Goes to work for a nother school and commits the same crime. True story.

When you don't pay a professional wage how can you expect professional behavior? These people, like firemen, did voluntarily apply for that line of work but they do the dirty work we won't.

However, that's not a license to abuse the vulnerable they swore to protect.

My dad's a former cop and he's appalled at what passes for "law enforcement" today.

DulceEtDecorumEst: This is such crap. Cops are always facing frivlous lawsuits like this. Notice how they never found out any details about how the daughter got beaten. My guess is that this retard beat his own daughter and then tried to blame it on her boyfriend. The cops probably would have gotten the truth if they weren't forced to treat everyone with kid gloves. Ten or fifteen minutes in a room with a couple of cops who had the windowshades drawn, and Im betting they could have beaten the truth out of him.

When's your next novel coming out?
